We go 1 Dec. 4 of us in Disneyland Hotel & my parents in Hotel New York. Could someone advise if it's possible to swap hotels for breakfast. We are there 4 mornings so would like to eat together a couple of times, probably at Disney hotel. Will there be an upgrade fee ?

You cant swap breakfast for another hotel. however you can pay around 15 pounds per person to have a character breakfast at cafe mickey in the village which is a couple of minutes walk from the hotel New York. Anyone can pay to have breakfast as a non~guest at any onsite hotel, including the Disneyland hotel. You don,t get a discount on this for staying in another onsite hotel. The current price is around 15 euros per adult.

Also, it's my Dad's 65th while there, any recommendations as to what to do / for example if we wanted to do a Birthday cake where can we do that best in a park / hotel restaurant.
    Many thanks all :-)

A birthday cake brought to your dad by some disney characters might be fun ~you can have this at cafe mickey, inventions dinner, auberge de cendrillon princess lunch, or the steakhouse in the village sunday brunch.
  • Hi Balletshoes,
I've been reading thru all these pages and your information is brilliant.
So just wandering if you could help me please.
I'm going to Disneyland in a couple of weeks for 4 days with 2 children aged 4 and 8.
What tips can you give me for places to eat for dinner which are pretty cheap?
We are going to take your advice and stock up at breakfast for our lunches.
What rides will be the better ones to go on?
Also does it matter which park we do first?
I've also been looking at tickets for the Buffalo Bills show but they are quite expensive, is it worth the money and is the meal nice?
    Thankyou in advance Balletshoes

I'll start with the Buffalo Bills question - no, in my opinion the food isnt great. Bits of it are okay though, and if you like chicken with gravy coating, ribs, veal sausage and corn on the cob, at least you'll be able to eat something. I liked the cornbread that comes with the chilli starter, and I liked the apple pie with the coffee at the end :).

You're there for 4 days - are they all midweek and after the 11th November? If they are, 4 days is loads of time to do everything your kids want to do and see, several times over, in both parks, with minimal queueing. If you're going before 11th November, because its French school and public holidays, my advice will be very different because it will be busy at DLP.

For dinner, really you're looking at either the restaurants in the Village, or the onsite hotels, or a very early dinner possibly inside the main park. You can always get counter service of course, but this isn't necessarily great value for money, depending on what kind of appetite your party has. Have a look at DLRPMagic for their restaurant threads, as you'll get an idea of prices/menu options etc for each restaurant in the resort, table service, buffet service, and counter service.

DLRPMagic is also a great site for looking at which rides may be suitable for your kids, which attractions would suit etc etc. You'll be able to get a park programme on the official DLP site just before you go too (it will change between now and when you go as its Halloween season at the moment) so you'll be able to see which character meet n greets are going to be happening when you are there, which times and which venues etc.
  • Thanks for the reply,
We are going Midweek, is this better than going at weekends?
and will be before the 11th November.
Will it be huge queues and generally busy with it being the public holidays?
I don't think we will bother with Buffalo Bills show then and try and see a few of the other ones instead.

you should be okay for fairly quiet parks with those dates - officially all the French schools return to term on 4th, and the long weekend for the public holiday on the 11th shouldn't really get going until around Thursday 7th.
  • Ok thanks balletshoes

    Afternoon all!

Well, temporary annual passes have arrived, hotel (Cheyenne) booked, Euro tunnel booked, all ready to go week commencing 16th Dec!

Wanted to ask you a question - I've phoned up and booked reservations for restaurants in the past, not a problem, and I'll do it again this time (including a birthday cake for DD for the 17th). But I've seen on here the idea of mentioning it to the hotel that it would be her birthday, and that we MAY get something special or a treat or whatever. Do I do that via the reservations hotline, or via another number?

    Thanks

    Clare x

P.S. For those interested, it seems that Buzz's pizza planet is back open for about 4 days a week....

I was told to contact the hotel direct. Reservations gave me the number. I think you have to pay though, they don't seem to give you anything for free. I'm going to call tomorrow after work when my son is still at school so he doesn't hear me. Saves me hiding in a cupboard and whispering at them tonight.
