Hi ladies. Am posting from my bed cos I'm full of a nasty head cold. Came home from work early yesterday with it but have been suffering all week really.

Good to see you back Fizz Whizz. Your recommendation re Benefit Coralista has made me want to try this. Will have to raid Emma's make up as I'm sure she has some. I am definitely going to repurchase Dallas when on holiday and also like the look of the Too Faced blushes.

I'm also using the Garnier mi cellar water as make up remover at the mo but not very impressed. It's not getting all my mascara off.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Emma I agree with others that you should get rid of makeup that doesn't suit you.

maddie, I have asked DH for the Konmarie book for my birthday. I thought he was going to PHSL when I said I wanted a book about tidying up :rotfl:

I have UU Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief; 30ml tube which was a gift from a customer as she wouldn't use it. Blimmin' lovely, WDBA

And I've unstoppered my EL DW concealer and there's barely any left :)

Oh my word you've "unstoppered ". You are watching way too much You Tube! :rotfl:

Using more and richer products to get the space back can really pay dividends. I had a chat to a lady at one of those department store counters as I was fed up of having redness, dry patches and break-outs all at the same time and the light stuff not dealing with any of it. She told me my skin was so dry that it was working overtime and that was causing the breakout. She sent me home with (yet more) samples and told me to use lots of richer creams. This time I listened and ladled on the rich stuff. From looking like I had rosacea when I did not, I have a thumb sized red bit on each cheek. The skin has visibily normalised and is still getting better. I still have some spots but they are smaller and a lot less inflamed. Result, apart from now wanting to buy the £85 face cream which started the healing once the stash is gone - which will probably be next decade.

This is great and what this thread is all about. If the richer cream works for you keep on using it - you have found your HG a. As for the price tag if you're savvy and shop around you can usually find good deals. Which product is it?

UU:Johnson's holiday skin. WMBA, it's the only gradual tanner I have ever used so not a lot to compare it with. Replaced with a Garnier version, though this one is a spray and I can already feel myself getting annoyed with it!

Can anyone recommend me a brown waterproof mascara? Went into to Boots today to pick up my favourite Boots natural collection waterguard, to be told the brown/black has been discontinued! NOOOOOO! this has been my HG for years.

There are lots of waterproof mascaras, and lots of brown mascaras, but seems to be very rare to find both in one.

My fave gradual tanner is Garnier Summerbody.

Can't recommend a waterproof mascara as the last one I had from no 7 dried out very quickly and I woul repurchase however a quick search on the Boots site has revealed quite a few brown waterproof ones. I have a fave brown mascara - YSL Babydoll and YSL a do a waterproof brown.

  • 2 UU and 1 IN for me today.

UU – Champneys Overnight Hand Treatment – WNB, was nice but I'm sure I can find something cheaper

UU – Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask – WBA, makes my skin feel lovely in the morning.

IN – Cerave moisturiser. I see this raved about a lot in skincare forums and saw it was on amazon so thought I'd give it a go. You can use it on the face and the body and it's a massive tub so if it works for the face it will end up being a bargain! I might decant some into my champneys hand treatment pot and use it as a night hand cream too.
    No more goo hoarding!

Hope you feel better soon - summer colds are the worst.

I tried the Garnier Micellar water the other day and I wasn't impressed either, it removed my face makeup but not my eye makeup and didn't touch my mascara.

Sisley Reparatrice. Which is a HG and does what is says on the tub but has a ridonkulously expensive one, so I'm hoping some of the slightly less ridiculously expensive stuff in the stash will be equally good or better.

    Get well soon, VALM.

That doesn't sound good! I hope you are starting to feel a little better!! X

Last night proved quite successful. I have found something new to obsess over - creating my own lipsticks. I had so much fun melting them down and pouring them back into empty containers. Technically I haven't UU any yet but I have def gotten my stash down by combining a few. I will post them as UU's when I get to the end of my newly formed ones.

I also came to the realisation that I can wear pretty much any colour if I put enough time and effort into blending them. Some colours are just too vibrant though to bother trying (too time consuming) - I will never get to the end of some of these products using them that way and they are just not conservative enough for work or for everyday use.

They highly pigmented laura mercier ones however make amazing hair chalks. The colour pay off is fantastic and my hair is platinum blonde so they show up quite well. It sounds a little mad I do realise ... but I have a festival on this weekend that I am planning to use them for. Lavender and teal streaks it is :rotfl:
