yeah, finally a UU - Boots Expert hand cream. WBA (although I remember it being a freebie :D) as very moisturising.
Toothpaste will be UU shortly too :)

Emma as others have already said I would, sell, GA or bin the items.
The money has been spent - end of story, why keep when all it does is remind you of bad purchasing decisions/waste of money. Clean slate and all that..... If you had spent the cash on food, drinks, cinema tickets etc etc you would not be mouldering about the waste if it had not lived up to expectations for months years afterwards.

Move forward, lesson learned:) :)You are not alone most of us have done something similar at some stage.

I join in on the Konmarie thread, you would not believe how much more content/happy/lighter everyone feels who have made this decision about possessions that are lurking and reminding them of wrong choices, change of circumstances (e.g. colours that I looked great in as a highlighted brunette are a total no on grey hair, even if it does sport pink/blue/purple highlights:rotfl:)

maddie, I have asked DH for the Konmarie book for my birthday. I thought he was going to PHSL when I said I wanted a book about tidying up :rotfl:

I have UU Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief; 30ml tube which was a gift from a customer as she wouldn't use it. Blimmin' lovely, WDBA

And I've unstoppered my EL DW concealer and there's barely any left :)

Fizz welcome back and glad you Dh is now ok and you can think about a holiday.
Must admit the kondo book is the best thing I've never read. I cheated and listened to an audio version on YouTube but it's since been removed.

I've done a once through as a trial but am now on my second run and mean business this time the charity shop don't know what going on the amount of stuff they are getting off me. I filled another two bGs of clothes yesterday and have culled 30 books that I'll never read today, 26 are in the CS pile and 4 have already been sent off to a book buying site for £5
It really does open your eyes to why you have so much stuff that you really don't want or need.
Pop on the kondo thread if you want to see some of what it's about as I don't want to hijack this one with talk of kondoing. Unless it's toiletries.

Using more and richer products to get the space back can really pay dividends. I had a chat to a lady at one of those department store counters as I was fed up of having redness, dry patches and break-outs all at the same time and the light stuff not dealing with any of it. She told me my skin was so dry that it was working overtime and that was causing the breakout. She sent me home with (yet more) samples and told me to use lots of richer creams. This time I listened and ladled on the rich stuff. From looking like I had rosacea when I did not, I have a thumb sized red bit on each cheek. The skin has visibily normalised and is still getting better. I still have some spots but they are smaller and a lot less inflamed. Result, apart from now wanting to buy the £85 face cream which started the healing once the stash is gone - which will probably be next decade.

I have a question for you all. As we are all trying to UU our stashes instead of buying something new that we don't need I am curious as to how everyone approaches this in terms of unloved products.

With skincare and toiletries I seem to be able to force myself to UU things that I don't particularly love. However makeup seems to be a whole different game for me.

How do you all go about using Makeup products that no matter what you do just don't suit you? In my case I am happy to mix foundations to get a better coverage or a better shade when I have bought something unsuitable. Currently I am using a mixture of Bourjois cc cream, Estee Lauder double wear and Clarins everlasting foundation. I am super happy with how it has turned out.

However when it comes to using up a lipstick or eyeshadow that just isn't right what do you all do?

I have several dior, chanel and laura mercier eyeshadows that just don't suit me or my skin tone. They are teal / green coloured too....so not really sure how many people this colour would really suit :) I just love the colour so went through a phase of buying it regardless of the fact that it didn't suit me :(

So my question is, do you ignore the money already invested in these products and chuck them? Or do you persevere and wear them regardless of the fact they do nothing to enhance your beauty?

I just can't decide...I hate knowing how much money I have spent on them..on the other hand life is too short for ugly eye makeup :(

I'd love to know where the rest of you stand on this one?

If it's something I absolutely don't like and can not repurpose then I chuck it. Because if I keep it whenever I see the item I feel guilty, and life is too short for that...and for ugly makeup :P

You could try using green/teal colours as eyeliners or you could crush them and mix with nailpolish to get different colours (Latter I've never tried, just saw on the net).

For pink eyeshadows, i use them as highlighter (if white-ish) or blush (if suitable).

As for lipsticks you can mix them, too! just use an old sample cream pot that is not too big and have at it :) Some people melt them in a spoon but I'm not too sure whether the chemicals wouldn't change with direct heat. If you must melt them you could always do it by placing it in a little pot and placing that pot into very hot water, that way products don't burn :)If you have an empty lipstick container you can line it with parchment paper and pour the melted lipstick mix in, when its hardened just twist and take the paper out. Et voila, you've got a brand new, custom-made, limited edition lipstick

Any mistakes I make buying make up that doesn't suit I pass on to DD19 who is a photographer and amateur make up artist. She sometimes does fantasy/fashion shoots and can use the makeup to do 'edgy' couture type looks. Last green eyeshadow I gave her she used to define the models cheekbones, sounds horrible but it actually worked in the shoot!

Are there any aspiring make up artists in your family?

So inspired by the question I've just dug out a couple of small eyeshadow palettes to experiment with - I'm now sitting with a lilac/purple coloured eye, and one green/teal :rotfl:

Neither look is a winner at the minute, but it's given me a few ideas about other colours to use them with for some good, and different from my usual, looks.

I'll jump in the shower now and wash it all off, but might experiment a bit more on other quiet nights alone. It's fun - like being a kid again! :D

UU:Johnson's holiday skin. WMBA, it's the only gradual tanner I have ever used so not a lot to compare it with. Replaced with a Garnier version, though this one is a spray and I can already feel myself getting annoyed with it!

Can anyone recommend me a brown waterproof mascara? Went into to Boots today to pick up my favourite Boots natural collection waterguard, to be told the brown/black has been discontinued! NOOOOOO! this has been my HG for years.

There are lots of waterproof mascaras, and lots of brown mascaras, but seems to be very rare to find both in one.
