hello
well done for just getting all that into a list Polkadots, now you can start enjoying it all.
2 UUs here:
Rimmel creme blush - WMBA liked it in the end. It's my favourite method of application for blush.
Estee Lauder advanced night repair serum HG already have another ready, but am going to try out some of the other smaller size serums I have. It's pricey, but I've had the big bottle nearly 2 years with almost everyday use. That, combined with LE c&p is what sorts my skin out when it gets off track.0 -
Hi all.
Another little uu from me
Body Shop Almond Hand Cream 30ml - this was a freebie and I would happily use again but WNB, it didn't seem very moisturising.
Also some ins
I have/had a subscription to My Little Box and the July box arrived yesterday, the beauty items were a body lotion/after sun type product, a mini Garnier Micellar Water and an Essie nail polish, it wasn't worth the money to me (there are other lifestyle products in there too) so I unsubscribed.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Last night I UU my Aurelia cell repair night oil. I would definitely buy this again, it makes my skin feel dewy soft and it smells beautiful.
However, I have the Antipodes Joyous night oil to use first and I haven't even started that, so I've a while to go before I will need anything, and I haven't used that one before, so it's possible I might like it even better.
This morning I UU the Faith In Nature coconut shower gel and the Body Shop Coconut shimmer body butter.
I like the shower gel and think for that kind of thing (ethical company, lots of natural ingredients, no chemical nasties etc) it's good value for money. However, I only bought this scent to go with the coconut body butter and I much prefer the grapefruit and orange one.
The body butter I definitely wouldn't buy again. It makes my skin soft, but the shimmer is a nightmare. I think it looks a bit silly on someone over 40 anyway, but the real pain is the way it rubs off on your clothes. If you pull a t-shirt on and the outside brushes your skin, you end up with sparkly smears on the outside of your clothes. Plus my boyfriend doesn't like coconut so I had to use something else when he stayed over. I also understand the Body Shop products have lots of chemical nasties in, so won't re-buy from them.0 -
I have a question for you all. As we are all trying to UU our stashes instead of buying something new that we don't need I am curious as to how everyone approaches this in terms of unloved products.
With skincare and toiletries I seem to be able to force myself to UU things that I don't particularly love. However makeup seems to be a whole different game for me.
How do you all go about using Makeup products that no matter what you do just don't suit you? In my case I am happy to mix foundations to get a better coverage or a better shade when I have bought something unsuitable. Currently I am using a mixture of Bourjois cc cream, Estee Lauder double wear and Clarins everlasting foundation. I am super happy with how it has turned out.
However when it comes to using up a lipstick or eyeshadow that just isn't right what do you all do?
I have several dior, chanel and laura mercier eyeshadows that just don't suit me or my skin tone. They are teal / green coloured too....so not really sure how many people this colour would really suitI just love the colour so went through a phase of buying it regardless of the fact that it didn't suit me
So my question is, do you ignore the money already invested in these products and chuck them? Or do you persevere and wear them regardless of the fact they do nothing to enhance your beauty?
I just can't decide...I hate knowing how much money I have spent on them..on the other hand life is too short for ugly eye makeup
I'd love to know where the rest of you stand on this one?July 2015 - £997 in Debt.

July 2015 - No more paying full price!!0 -
emma-6584 I tend to use the horrible colours in my palettes (bright pink, purple, bright green) for 'playing' or practicing techniques. Or I just wear them around the house and hope no one comes to the door. Same with lipstick.0

I would get rid of them. If you can sell them that would be my first choice if not pass them to a friend etc or as a last resort bin them (do it on bin day so you can't change your mind).Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Hi Emma. I really can't force myself to use make up that doesn't suit me - whole point of putting make up on is to make you look better.
I had my "colours" done years ago, and it was a revelation seeing the difference wearing the right coloured clothes and make up. I'd rather go bare faced than stick the wrong colours on - why go to effort to look worse? (I am pretty relaxed about not wearing make up - it's my default position truth be told) If the colours don't suit your skin tone, you probably aren't wearing clothes that go with the make up anyway.
I think I threw away a lot of my make up after having my colours done (wrong shade of pink lipsticks and blushers, pastel eye shadows etc.), but I have been known to pass onto friends - not things like mascara because of the infection risk etc, but eye shadow etc I can't imagine you could go that far wrong with.
Oh and as for who teal / greens suits - people with skin tone like me - I am an "autumn" in the house of colour terminology. Teal is one of my very favourite colours for clothes, though for make up these days I mainly stick to neutrals with the odd pop of metallic or green/teal coloured eye liner or shadow for nights out. It's definitely not a colour I'd stick on for the office. (I work in a fairly conservative place).0 -
Depending on the colors, I do mix eyeshadows too. If they are unused, try to sell them. To me, binning things is a waste and I cannot bring myself doing it unless something gone off.ally.0

emma-6584 I try to repurpose things when and where I can - shampoo as shower gel, conditioner as shaving lotion, any kind of moisturiser onto hands and feet!
I've been mixing foundations as you are - I like it, as it helps me match the shade perfectly to my skin tone as it changes throughout the year.
Eyeshadows are harder though...
I'd sell any nice unused ones if possible. I've had Barry M dazzle dusts before which have worked well in nail art too!
Any others I try to give away. I got rid of a huge amount when I moved back over here - I had a lot of clothes, accessories, makeup, nail polishes etc. I sold as much as I could first through local notice boards, then had a party with my friends - I told them to bring food and drink to mine for a girls night, and they could take lots of clothes etc with them at the end of the night. It was really funPretty much all the makeup was gone, but I have a couple of friends who really do use a lot of colours doing amazing creations.
Anything I have now (including eyeshadows, sachets etc) I put into a pretty box to keep in the bathroom, and I tell any friends and guests to have a rifle through and help themselves. I guess if something stayed in there too long it'd eventually get binned.
My mum does the same for me and my sister and we get some lovely stuff from it0 -
