I am a carboot sale virgin, but am desparate to de-clutter my house. Can you advise - do I have to book a place at a car boot sale or do you just turn up?
I am in Bristol and know they have regular carboot sales in Keynsham and Bradley Stoke, but don't know whether I have to book a space or not.
Also - do people tend to sell straight out the boot or do they put tables out? :cheesy:
Hi
Just turn up but if it opens at 6 be there half hour before as queue are normally long - give you abit of time to set up aswell then -
Go to local B&Q or DIY store grab yourself a paste table (if you can't borrow one from someon or you so not already have one that is) Boot Sale is just the name given I have never seen anyone selling straight from the car boots
If you have clothes try and borrow a clothes rail as nice to hang the items on
Hope this helps0 -
Thanks so much - wish me luck!0

Good luck with your first boot sale, there's some good advice in the first post of this thread which you might find helpful.0 -
Hi,
Myself, mum and sister are planning on pooling all our unwanted goods together and sell at a car boot sale. I thought this might be a good idea as it means we can split the cost of the pitch and have a wider variety of items to attract a variety of buyers. Some of the items that we plan on selling are:- Plus size clothes
With the plus size clothes I would put up a sign saying something like "Plus Size Clothes 18-22" or whatever sizes they are. I know when I'm going round once either me or my Mum see a sign like this we're rummaging through the rails straightaway.0 -
sorry to bump this up anyone ???Lovingitifitsabargain wrote: »Hi - am doing a bootsale this weekend - my son has a fully working Playstation 2 which he no longers uses (a few games too) what shall I ask for it ? - cannot be bothered with ebay - it's in full working condition a couple of marks on the casing ? thanks - aww and what price for games ?0

Hello
Me and hubby did a car boot a couple of months ago and sold an original (not slimline) fully working PS2, with 2 controllers and an 8MB memory card. We advertised it at £30 and it went for £25. We had a stack of games to sell too, which we sold for £2 to £3 each separately.
My advice would be this. Sell the PS2 for no less than £25 (assuming you have controllers and a memory card, otherwise £20 would be good going.) New ones can be picked up now for approx. £40, so sell it sooner rather than later.
If you do have an original PS2 Sony memory card, don't be talked into selling it separately for a few quid as they are worth way more than that, even on Ebay. It will help sell the PS2 as a package anyway.
Offer to chuck in a game (just one mind) if someone is dithering about whether to buy it.
I know you said you can't be bothered selling the games on Ebay but some games are worth a lot. We kept back quite a few of ours and sold those on Ebay to International buyers in Australia and Europe as they are willing to pay a fair bit more than UK buyers (use the Buy It Now feature on Ebay abd post using recorded delivery). Otherwise don't take less than £2 per game and be careful at the car boot about selling Age 12/15/18 rated games to kids and teenagers as this is still against the law.
I hope this helps you a bit.0 -

Plus size clothes are very popular at the car boots, so you shouldn't have any problems getting rid of them!0 -
just wondering where do you think people get the bulk stuff you see at boot fairs.
last week I saw a guy with like 100 pencil cases, 100 hair braiding sets and about the same number of jigsaws
intrigued....0 -
