;22774001]Few questions:-
1. Do you need to take a table to put stuff on or is it literally out of the car boot?
2. Do you need a clothes rail to put clothes on?
3. What sells best? I've got clothes, tapes, VHS tapes, LPs, toys, books?
4. How much do things sell for and should I label things?
If you check back on this thread you will find answers to your questions.
Basically the answer is yes to your simple questions, of you want to make the most money and sell the most stuff..
What sells depends on the type of shoppers and the competition and how "good" your stuff is..0 -
I did a Car boot on Sunday , I did find Videos dont sell , even at 10p each , perhaps its because i mainly have childrens or keep fit videos on offer . Should i just give them to a charity shop or keep trying ??
My clothes went really well , i sold each item at 50p each , one lady said it was too cheap but i rather sell them than bring it all home again !!
I used a table and 2 picnic blankets , also had a clothes drier to hang my clothes on .
I also labelled everything , people do knock you down , some think 50p is too expensive :eek:0 -
You know you are selling too cheap when fellow stall holders buy from you; unless your real objective is to de-clutter.
You will find your stuff re-appearing an a neighbouring stall at a higher price.
Fair enough it takes all sorts to make a market.0 -
The lady who said my clothes was too cheap didnt actually buy anything
I was there just to de clutter really so wasnt bothered. Still took home £85 which i thought was good for a few hours and even a suntan !!
Has made me think i buy too many clothes !!0 -

Hello,
I am off to visit my daughter for the next 2 weeks in the Plumstead and Woolwich area, can anyone recommend any car boot sales within this area on Sundays
Thanks0 -
Hi, having done car boots both in UK and abroad I can vouch for the intimidating atmosphere when your car is surrounded by would-be buyers (+ thieves!).
MY TIP: have your paste-tables at back of car so they're the 1st items coming out. Reasons:
- they're a good barrier to stop people leaning over to your stuff
- you can stand there opening out the legs etc. and you then whip behind them pushing out both tables (needs 2 people) in a V-formation, thus creating a barrier between your stuff in the boot and the buyers
- you can then lift over boxes as you decide to empty them (I typically sort my gear to have the type of goods that such buyers might go for and bring these out 1st). If anyone asks 'Have you got....?' and you do have something but not yet, then tell them it's coming out soon and you keep 'em keen!
