I am going to do my first car boot of the season this weekend at Ayr Racecourse and getting a traders pitch as its new clothes from an ebay based business I have closed down.It was costing me more to keep listing the stuff than I was making so no point,I just want rid of the boxes of expensive stuff cluttering up my house now.
I want some advice on my pricing, the stuff is all rrp of £25-40 per item and I want to know what I should price them at to shift them quickly.I thought skirts £15 each or 2 for £20/tops £8 each or 2 for £10?Hope to get multiple buys that way to shift more quantity.
Its less than I paid for them but I just want rid of my stock,do you think they would shift at those prices? Its all hippy stuff, ethnic, fairtrade, nomads brand most of it.
    What do you think,prices okay?

I'd pay £15 for a nomads skirt I think, I'd be willing to pay more than on Ebay as you can see it. But it depends on what kind of people you have in the area.

am doing myt first carboot this sunday but i dont have a clue ofwhat to price things at i have got loads and loads of clothes ranging from sz 8 - 22 some of which have never been worn and they are some good makes in there, shoes, handbags, make up, tolitries, kids clothes, books dvds, cds, gift sets and kitchen stuff any ideas what i should price things up at
I would always advise to price things up, as the majority of people will always knock you down. I think you have to be realistic with your pricing, remember your getting rid because you probably don't use or don't need it. For example if theres something that i think is worth £5 then i tend to price it up at £6, the buyer offers you £5 you except, they think they have got a bargin everyones happy.
    Womens clothes 5op to £1
    Kids clothes 50p
    Cd's used 50p
    DVD's £2
Gift sets i have sold between £1 and £2
If you have got more expensive or unusual things take them along too, not everybody uses ebay

Never sold any other items listed
The last car boot i went to, i made £280
    Hope this helps good luck!

Always best to price up a little at car boots - well done :T
  • Do ladies plus size clothes sell well?

I'm thankfully shrinking slowly, but have also had a good clearout of the mis-purchases etc. So have lots of size 18,20 & 22 bits - lots of virtually new jeans, t-shirts, shorts etc. No idea on prices at all - can you help?

    Moam
Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.... life is a WIP.

MOAM - I sell plus size clothes on ebay and smaller clothes at car boots...!
Plus size seems to go really well on ebay - size 22 stuff will probably do better than 18/20!
Well done on your weight loss tho!!x
Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??

Yes plus size clothes sell really well in my experience, you'll usually find plenty of customers because large sizes are harder to find at boot sales. I'm a size 18 and love it when I find ladies of a similar size selling clothes at boot sales:j. I usually pay around £1 an item, if they want more than I'll sift through the things I like and buy less.

Depends on your point of view, sellers either want to get rid of stuff and pile 'em high, sell 'em cheap, or charge more but people won't buy so many items. I go to boot sales with a certain amount of cash in my pockets so would be reluctant to spend more than £1 a piece. HTH

I'm doing a boot sale next Sunday, have had a quick whip around the flat and gathered most of the stuff I want to take, although will probably dig out more as the week goes on, and pester the OH to donate some stuff as well. However, the sale goes on from 9am to 4pm and I'm not sure I'll have enough to last me that long, are there any ways to bulk out your stall? Don't really want to spend a lot though :money:
D'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't important
