Hi everyone, I did the car boot yesterday afternoon, it was really busy. I came home with £130 so was really pleased with that. :j

Think I did my last ever boot sale yesterday lol!

Arrived at 6.45 for 7.30 start and queued for over an hour to get in. The place was absolutely jam packed. Once you were in there was no chance of getting out until the end. Anyway the real problem was that there was too much stuff for the buyers to look at and therefore very few sales. My Daughter and I were there for 5 hours and made £20. The people next to us had really beautiful stuff for sale and took even less than we did even though they were almost giving it away. This seemed to be a problem for everyone that we spoke to.

All in all the winners were the buyers and the people who owned the site - there were 200 cars at £7 per time and I wouldn't like to even begin to guess how many buyers at £1 a head. They must have taken at least £3000 though. Not bad for 5 -6 hours renting out your car park - and they do this every Sunday of the year!!

Still it was a beautiful sunny day and I got to spend a few hours with my daughter so not so bad.

Yes I agree, as a buyer I only go with so much money in my pocket so if there are hundreds of stalls I'll give a lot of them a miss and just home in on the ones that look appealing to me. The one in Denham is like that, massive boot sale but overwhelming and once my cash has run out I'm off, often only get round half of it (and try to make that the half with the "genuine" sellers rather than the traders who dominate the first dozen or so aisles:D)

My mam made £200 at her before last one which was a few weeks ago she did one week before last and only made £85 but thinks it was because I wasnt there to help out (guilt trip I think)

This car boot though only has 50 or so cars and there are always loads of buyers though she takes loads of stuff she still has loads left at the end and people keep giving her stuff now for it:confused: I have a truck load of new stuff to give her and loads of nice clothes that dont fit anymore.

The thing that doesnt go to well is books though you sell a few so she took some to barter books today and got £50 credit for 10

Dont know which on my books she took as I have 2000 in her loft. think she is finally getting the advantage of having me shop to much and using her attic as a spare closet
Needing to lose weight start date 26 December 2011 current loss 60 pound Down. Lots more to go to get into my size 6 jeans

    Hi,
I think alot of people use 'pasting tables' the decorating type, you can buy these from most DIY stores,
    Hope that helps,
    :D:D

You can get them from Wilkinson's - they have two sorts, one for £7.99 and one for £13.99.

    Also Argos have them

My regular local car boot have a stack of tressle tables that they hire for £1 each for the day. Its a great idea as you can get more stuff in your car, but they must make a fortune from hiring them out !
