Does anyone else have a long-haired cat who throws up regularly??

Yup our tiny 4 lbs weight 20 yr old does, every time she eats the biscuits we put out for the other cat, as well as when she has hairballs. Our vet reckoned she was too small for all her fur! We have to treat her with Petalax or Katalax paste (a dab on the paw every few days) to make sure any fur she grooms up goes through her.

When the other longhairs throw up its usually when I've not groomed them regularly, although I claim no responsibility for the remnants of Baileys mouse! I take it they're telling me I've been a bad-CatMum.

    With mine it's usually 3 or 4am !

Hello again! The good news is that I'm getting less short-sighted with age...the bad news is that the new glasses will cost quite a bit! My optician is great, but just occasionally I wonder whether a trip to the nearest SpecSavers might not be a good thing.
Went shopping at Aldi's while staying with my sister. DH and I went round exclaiming over how cheap it all was and brought back several items which we knew were far dearer in Mr T's.
Am trying to get motivated for some housework - but found myself back on here instead! Need to dig out the rubber gloves to get all the dogs' hairs off the stair carpet - much more effective than the hoover, but rather more effort needed. Ah well, better get to it...
    Resolution:
    Think twice before spending anything!

..ain't it always the way. Pop out for a walk to get some fresh air - miss the one Parcelforce delivery in a month of sundays.

Whilst I was out I popped into the vets to get an idea of how much vet nurse charges to feed cats whilst owners are away. She was busy but another told me she thought it was £10 a day for one cat....maybe more for more cats. Ouch. We're talking of visiting OH family in USA later in the year and will have to take out a small mortgage!

    Dia Dhibh!

Managed to get through to hearing aid people this am to request new 'free batteries for three years' for OH...hopefully by end of week as he needs some then, have no idea what he did with old one, he would lose his head if it weren't attached and then it would be my fault.

Letter this morning from SW, Oh had applied for increase in his pension for me as I am below the limit for ADA and they are giving us €81 per week instead of €40 I expected...will put €800 back money into Australia fund, which is looking healthier now...look out OZ, we're on our way!

    Happy anniversary Stressedoutmum.

Frogga, I heartily agree with you on nonsensical cost of uniform...DGS almost 5 is starting school on 30th August and his uniform is costing €200! Mine didn't have a compulsory uniform while at primary school and I could buy badges etc at post primary level. On the whole I think that uniforms are a good idea if they level out all income levels as they are meant to do, but I think that a rethink on the whole process by the powers that be is long overdue.

Amie, we had hedgehops under the deck two years ago and they used to love the cat's food, no sign of them since alas, I would love to have a couple of 'babies' around the place.

JackieO and PenPin, hope that you are improving, looking forward to hearing from you soon. Hugs to you and all in need/want.

    Welcome to newbies

Scuzz....positive vibes for your interview to-morrow

Hester...good news on job front for OH and hang on to the cash...just in case IRS want it back!

DGS2 has just slipped from a stool he was jumping from and grazed his whole left shin.....never seems to sit still or walk...he is now lying on couch 'resting', Maimeo having applied a coat of Savlon and left it to soak into injury...going to feed him soon as he is going to Daddy's house until Thursday.

OH having steak for dinner....he overbought on Saturday, rest of us having shepherds pie, which we prefer. He knocked one of my Katy apples off the tree when mowing the lawn and we shared it...not quite ripe, but lovely apple, crisp and sharp tasting...might get another one if I am sowing more in November.

Hope that everyone has a nice day, warm here but overcast.

  • Well I am glowering fit to bust.......as you know we moved into sheltered housing earlier this year. We are on the first floor and have a small attic above our apartment in which I have stored several items we do not have room for but want to keep...........today we have had a letter telling us due to health and safety issues all hatches into the roof space are now going to be locked and anything stored up there HAS to be moved................now according to the letter a review and inspection was held recently, really, then why did we know nothing about it???????? no one came to see us.....in fact it turns out that an 'incident' occured at another complex where, when the tenant moved (died) the attic was not checked and some years!!!!! later stuff was found in the attic..........so because some numpty did not do his job properly, and we know all about that, having just moved my friend into a flat with no shower conected to the electricity supply and no hot water, the rest of us are going to have to find room to store the stuff that we put in our attics for safe keeping.

OH pointed out to the CSHO that a locked hatch would impede the fire service if there was a fire in the roof void, but she is such a chump she does not appear to understand this one, she is such a pretentious lady, she has an honour bestowed by HM, what the heck for I don't know, she puts the letters after her name on everything, it seems she is above all and next to God................I hope he has a big enough space for her head when she gets there.......................

I am spitting feathers..............The tenants have put stuff in their attics because they do not have room for it in their apartments, and now they are faced with having either part with some quite precious things or find somewhere else to put it.......have they offered us an alternative, no of course not..............I am faced with having now to sell all my sewing equipment to provide space for things which we want to keep...........I think my blood pressure has gone up to boiling point...................the whole issue is based on a lie, there never was an inspection of the attics in the apartments, this is a decision which has been made by HRH and everyone has to comply regardless............I just hope she never needs sheltered housing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but then of course she won't............will she???????
September grocery budget........trying for £80, not sure if I will make it though!!!!! I certainly did not last month, lost track of the final bill. Will do better this month honest.

    Tesco £57.13
    Petrol £10.00

Afternoon All - Where has today gone!
Frogga - I must add my twopenneth here. I moved DS from a local comprehensive to a independent school at 14 (one not far from you Pen-Pen) and they had a uniform, but I could use his existing trousers and shirts from comprehensive, and they had a second-hand school uniform shop - all proceeds to school funds and items given by parents when children had grown out of them. Got the Blazer, PE Kit, etc., and just bought a new Tie. Sorry but I feel it is outrageous, as long as they are basic school trousers/shirts of the appropriate colour it is a rip off! I think that someone has a deal with the shop. As for your Mum -don't be shy - if she can afford to help, please let her, it will make her day. Most Mum's love to help their kids/grandkids, I am sure a "are you able to help at all with the uniform as you said Mum, as it is really expensive?" would give the opening for her to help. Re the shoes is it possibly Hockey Boots for the girls and Football Boots for the boys - not both - or am I being sexist? - It always seems that if you are on benefits you can get extra help, but if you work!! Rant over:o

Fingers crossed Scuzz. Cute baby hedgehogs Amie.

Been to the Osteopath with my knee ankle re injury end June. She says my bone structure seems OK, but I have loose joints (which I always have had double jointed in most joints) and will have to be patient(me patient!) for the soft tissue damage to heal - at least end August, and then for the muscles around the joints to strengthen up again which I can use them more! Sounds like end of year to me:mad: , but nothing else anyone can do, so stop moaning DG and put up with it!

Reading the dissy for the re-submission by DS by the 24th, then need to do a bit of "Word" formatting for him on it before I go away. Still trying to remember everything we need for the 'van holiday, HOWEVER DID I HAVE TIME TO GO WORK!!

(((HUGS)) ALL ROUND, ESPECIALLY Jackie0, mrs_Mix AND Pen-Pin. Happy Anniversary Mr/Mrs Stressedout.

Csarina - Why not ask the Fire Service to do an inspection and ask the question??

    Take care

Csarina ~ Sorry to hear about your troubles , don't these little jobs~ worths P you off! !

Thanks for your sympathy donny-gal , and yes , I do think that the school governors must have shares in the School wear companies! ~ I think I will ask Mum for help as like you said she did offer and there are only 2 GC in the family so it's not as if everyone is after a slice ( if u know what I mean )

Quite a productive day really. Have changed my home phone to talk talk from BT. Hope it's the right thing to do . It seams like a good idea but I have had a few bad experiences swapping things b4 and I wish I had just stayed where I was! Just have to wait and see.

My DH is starting 3 days intensive training for a HGV licence tomorrow, with the test of Fri at 2pm. He is a self employed courier atm but thought that this would add another string to his bow. It is costing us £1000 so he feels under alot of pressure to pass. At least he's trying! Could do with alot of good vibes from you lot so please send some positivity through the airwaves:T

Got to go , my 11 year old has just cooked tea for us all ~ jacket pots, salad and spinache pie , yum yum xx:j
