OS Daily Tuesday 14/8/07

Options
Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 14/8/07. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread
after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Goodmorning everyone,

Thought I'd start the thread for today. All is quiet here atm. OS & DGS went to town this morning so I caught up with house cleaning, washing, ironing & baking. Baked 2 loaves of bread & Twink's hobnobs. :p Actually just having 2 now with my cuppa. Alas, there is something missing in them & I can't put my finger on what it is. :D

DD has the day off tomorrow so we're all going down to Dreamworld. Should be a lovely day out if OS & I can stop arguing for 5 minutes. Will also grab a few supplies on the way home.

Hope you all have a lovely day whatever you're up to. Byeeeeeeeeeeee

Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Good morning Aussielass and all to follow,

hope you have a greqat time at Dreamworld Aussie.

well another sleepless night for me as i seemed to clockwatch all night again !!!

have some cute good news, my hedgie has had 4 tiny babies, i went out last night at 9pm to put the food out when i noticed something tiny on the grass... i thought it was a mouse !!!!! then another 3 appeared and all headed towards the food, so i have a mummy hedgie and 4 hogletts, we have had the mum for about 6-8 weeks so it must have been pregnant when we got her, my dd rescued her and now she lives happily in our garden in the hedghog box. its a bit late in the year for hogletts they need to weigh at least a pound before the end sept or they wont survive the winter, so looks like im going to be busy preparing special food to fatten them up

its pouring with rain here and its going to get very windy later and a thunderstorm, they have forecast rubbish weather for the rest of the week. we are off to the New Forest in the morning !!!!!!

    in need of coffee now
    have a great day

comgratulations to charlies mum and belated birthday greatings to Elenor x x

Morning Aussie, Aimee and all who follow

Queenie - great to see you back here again. Hugs to you.

Horrible weather here this morning. Roads were very wet and had a frightening skid on the way in. Thought I was going to crash, so a bit shaken up._pale_
Heard from the job I applied for. I've an interview tomorrow evening.:T Please everyone keep anything and everything crossed. I have told work I'm going for it as everyone here knows everyone there:rolleyes: The closing date's not for a few days, so not sure if it's a good sign to be called in before then or not:confused:
Going to the theatre tonight with Mum - free tickets to see Chicago:T Should be a really good evening. Hoping to get a nap in when I get in, so I can enjoy the show properly.

    Hope everyone's ok

Morning. Decided to delay the caravanning as it's tipping down with rain. I would rather be at home in the rain that the caravan.
The kids are all in tents in a field this week on camp. I am sure they will manage!
I will do a few jobs around the house this morning and then decide when to go. I think it may ease off here by lunchtime.

Well appart from that everything else seems to be going OK. I am trying to not think about school uniforms, bus passes and exam results.

    Cheers

Thanks for all the congratulations yesterday, off to see new gd later, so looking forward to that :j

Amie, we have a hedgehog too, we saw him on the patio last night, but he's gone again this morning, so don't know where he / she is living, or if there are others.

Sold lots on Ebay over the weekend, so lots of pack and wrap to do this morning. Wanted to put the wm on, but it's raining, so will have to have a rethink :o

Good luck with the interview scuzz, hope you get the job if you want it

Hope everyone has a good day, despite the weather

    Morning all,:j

Good Luck with the Job interview tomorrow Scuzz, and I hope you enjoy Chicago tonight.

You must have read my mind this morning N9eav as I have been sitting here with a calculator almost in tears worrying about how I am going to pay for new school uniforms.

My DS has one year left at primary so he is having to make do with last years shirts and jumpers although he really does need new trousers as he's grown so much.

My DD however is off to high school and they are only allowed to wear specific uniform from the National Schoolwear shop , which is really pricey. We have a list of the stuff she needs and it's endless. I was trying to work out what was the least I could get away with but it's still going to cost me at least £150.

The Polo shirts are £14 can't do with less than 2 surely?
Trousers £19 one on and one in the wash
Jumper £22 definitly only getting one of these

plus a HUGE PE kit list including 4 different pe bottoms ( shorts, skirt, joggers, cycling shorts) and 4 different types of footwear (trainers, plimpsoles, football boots and hockey boots). All these things are compulsory and I bet she'll hardly ever use some of them! And new school shoes!

We also had a letter already asking for a £10 contribution to the ICT equipment when she starts school on the 5th Sept. I know this is voluntary but I don't want her to be embarrased by not having the money.

Oh well, I guess we'll get through some how. We'll be on dry bread all month but at least the kids will look smart!!:rotfl:

Have a good day everone xx

  • Good morning, everyone! Had a really mixed day yesterday. Took DD to the doctor who's given antibiotics, and throat lozenges to suck. We agreed that to rule out a recurrence of glandular fever, she'd have some blood taken. Was really difficult, they tried in 2 places and only got a small amount, and after not having had lunch, I nearly fainted in the surgery. DD said I went really pale and just sat on the floor  We then took the small amount of blood to the hospital in the next town. Luckily they had an expert from haematology in the department, and he promised that this was enough blood for the test needed. Cue big smile on DD'd face :j , and her first words of the day (everything else is being written on a pad in red felt tip). Her throat is too sore to speak or swallow much, so she's having lollies, smoothies, soup, but is still pretty dehydrated.

I had a friend round in the evening (luckily she's a very good friend, and happy to ignore the chaos as we'd had little time to tidy). We shared champagne (2nd bottle this week :D for her passing professional exams) and had chilli, made with stewing steak, not mince, in the SC, with a tomato and avocado relish. Then HG plum crumble (made by DS) with the last of the clotted cream.

DD then was really tearful before bed, but between the sobs and her being unable to speak clearly, not really sure what it was about. Promised that we'd sort it out this morning, and that she'd feel a lot better after a good night's sleep (glass of champagne will help her there ;) ).

No idea what I'm doing today - it's raining, and we'll see how DD is.

Off to empty my PM box..........

Have a great day, Penny. x

  • Good morning everyone :j

Well I am aching today, after spending 5 hours (yes 5 hours  ) ironing - wish I could say it's all done - but it's not

It's mine and DH's wedding anniversary today (9 years) :D Not doing anything though as he's working (I however have a rare day off ;) ).

It's pouring down with rain here, but DD and I need to pop into town as she broke her knitting needles, and I promised her I would replace them :A

    (((((hugs))))) to everyone
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)
