I;m just drinking a nice cuppa and watching the rain outside. i love it.
BReakki today is toast for kids , but i fancy an egg wrap with tom sauce. yummy.
Lunch ~ ham and cheese with crackers
Dinner ~ chilli , rice and tortillas.
i've got to empty the dishwasher in a minute. was going to ryde to take childrent o feed the ducks but might walk just 5 mins down the road to river medina and feed ducks there. we have all got wellies so will be nice for kids to jump in all puddles.Although i do need to make some biscuits or cakes so might do some of that later.
HAppy anniversary , birthdays to those celebrating , and ((((((hugs )))))) to those who need them.0 -
If only it were that simple TT.
have thought about just buying the plain light blue polo shirts and sewing on the badge but they don't sell the badges separatly!
Phoned the school annonymously to ask for advice and they said that there is help via the dole if you are on benifits , but we aren't.
My husband is a self employed parcel deliverer and I work term time in a university library. we are on the breadline as far as I am concerned but obviously not REALLY struggling like some are.
Like all these things we would be better off on the dole money-wise, but there you go. Should really moan as the wolves aren't really at the door and I guess in the end we will manage. I just feel that we are being taken advantage of and there are other things I would rather spend my money on!Say it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D

Happy anniversary Stressedoutmum and dh
thank goodness i dont have to buy school uniform, at least the schools here just have jerseys with the logo on, each school has a colour, and the primary ones have t shirts with the logo for gym and the trousers can be from asda
uniform is advised but not compulsory i think, but there used to be a grant here for uniform for low income families, not sure if its still in place0 -
Good Morning all!
Rain is tipping down here as well, so am feeling smug about getting back from long w/e in time to wash and dry two loads yesterday afternoon!
Scuzz - best of luck re the job - hope you get it!
Frogga - that uniform list sounds horrendous. All schools have been asked to relook at their uniform policy - my governors discussed it last term, but as we don't insist (we're a primary school) and parents can get jumpers etc anywhere (although without the logo) we've left ours as is. Our supplier is cheap (all sweatshirts under £9 with logo) and we only add about 25p - which actually doesn't cover the admin time spent dealing with orders at all. As I said, it's optional really, so long as the colour's the same. I think it's the secondary schools which cause the problem. Some run a second hand stall, which may offer some bargains, as children often outgrow long before wearing out. I know how you feel about not wanting your daughter to look different though. Best of luck.
Am off to get my eyes tested as I'm sure they're not right again. Back later to see what you're all up to!Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0 -
CAtowen ~ we are only allowed the choice of two styles of trousers. One is £15 a pair and the other more than £20.
They are V strict apparantly and as I said it would be different if Holly was at the end of her school life there but I don't want to make waves if she is only in year 7!!
I feel like a fraud moaning about it really as if the truth be told we are not completely on our uppers , but it's just I don't enjoy wasting money and when I know that I could get her a pair of trousers for a fraction of the cost it really grates!
Thanks for all the empathy though :rotfl:Say it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D

Really feel for you frogga, £150 is a lot of money for clothes that she won't fit into in a year (or less!). Hope you can sort something out to reduce the cost a bit.
Well, it's raining here today. Got work soon but have a load of washing in already. Really wanted to get the bedding done today as the water board are flushing the pipes. It will last for 10 days and there's a possibility that the water may be cloudy. If it is, we've not to use DW or WM . I'm sure they're just covering themselves incase, but trying to get by for 10 days is just not something I can think about so really hoping it'll all be fine.
Better get myself moving - have a good day everyone.Love MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0 -
Good Morning all! Any more lurkers going to come out of the woodwork today??
((HUGS)) to who would like one!
Scuzz, good luck on the interview, GOt my fingers crossed for you!
Frogga, I would do somethign abotu the school uniform; I'm sure they can't dictate to you anymore as to where you buy the uniform; I'd look into it - kids wreck clothes and those ones would be SO expensive to replace, nevr mind buy for the first time.
Well, the tree people didnt' show up yesterday; called them about 3 and they said 'our machine is broken; we called everybody!' no, you didn't call me. 'yes, we called everyone' - no you didnt' - when are you coming? ' Tomorrow after noon' So now they get to work in the pouring rain.
Going to make that cabbage gallette for dinner; found some bacon in the freezer that DH didn't remember buying - its streaky as well, which we dont' normally buy.
NOthing much going on here as usual. Finishing off the x stitch. Its times like this I really wish I could draw; I want to add 2 crosses on chains to my x stitch, but i can't draw, can't find any in my patterns, and any I have tried to just graph I can't get the perspective right; I want them to look like they are lying on a table, IYKWIM.
I've also made some more sourdough muffins from the batter I made yesterday (it likes to sit in the fridge overnight) and have a loaf of bread I started yesterday still proofing. WHen the weather was hot the bread took no time at all to rise, but when its colder, it takes forever. Will just have to wait.
Might do a wash, and hand them on the airer. Got dishes to do as well. And my foot's about the same.....
Have a good day, all! (HOw did it take so long to write about so little??!)0 -
Hi Frogga,
Really sorry that the school is so snitty. I would still only buy it in bits'n'pieces - loads of our kids have stuff that they put into their lockers in yr 7 and then remove at the end of yr 11!!!
I hope their Ofsted reports and results justify the attitude that they are taking!!! It may be worth writing to the governors next term to get them to look at the issue.
I've got to get my kids uniforms soon - have done the grey stuff but my kids' primary has a badged polo shirt, cardigan and sweatshirt for winter, badged PE shirt and now a coat! I now laugh in the face of such nonsense. They can have the badged jumper and the rest is from Tesco. Mind you, my kids are lucky as there are a few of us mums rebelling this year, so they won't be the only ones unlabelled!!
Take care,
Tilly
xxThanks to this fantastic site and it's amazing people, we have paid over £63, 000 off - just over half way!!!:T THANK YOU:T0 -
Good Morning All
Its been a while since I posted. So not getting in the routine of coming on here during the holidays!
After reading a few posts regarding uniforms, I can sympathise. DS will be starting High School in Sept. Luckily, He hasn't grown much, so he can make do with his old trousers! (obviously the holey ones have been passed on) Cant believe though the amount of P.E kits he does need! Incl various trainers/pumps! Luckily Tesco's Back to School range is pretty good and cost effective too!
Roll on Friday, break up for 2weeks. I so need it! Still not decided where we're going. I wouldnt mind a cheapie trip to Florida to see my brother, but OH wants to go to Turkey! I can cope with seperate holidays!!!! lol.
Busy making more cards. Inbetween, packing kids clothes for their holiday with their dad.
DD woke me up at 4am to tell me her tooth has fallen out.
Right best be off, need a shower. Then work!
Have a great day all
Take care

Hi Tilly
The school is always boasting that it gets the best reults in East Anglian last year they were in The Times Top3 ! Quite how much of their great results are down to the uniform I don't know!!
I could make a fuss you are all right. If it was down to me I would. However Holly is only 11 and want s to fit in and just be annonymous and I have to respect that.
I am always up for a campaign and a good fight , but I cant put all that on my 11 year old. I can just imagin the bullying that would start if she started to be "different".
thanks for all your concern , but as I said we will be able to manage. Just have to have caviar once a weke for a while!! ( not really we are veggie, just couldn't think of an expensive veggie item!):rotfl:Say it once, say it loud ~ I'm an Atheist, Anti-Royalist, Socialist, Tea-Total Veggie Frog and PROUD!:D
