  • I've atarted a new thread about school uniform here - Where do you buy school uniform?

How about we take the discussion over there, and leave this thread for our OS Activities?

Happy anniverasay to Stressed out Parents of 1

Catowen - I got the Monry book from the library - DD has hijacked it, and is really enjoying it.

    Morning all

Frogga - I can sympathise with the uniform prices - I've only bought the "compulsary" items and it's set me back £240 for the uniform and £130 (so far) for the books/dictionaries/calculator/specific drawing pencils/art supplies/tennis racquet etc. Hockey boots, shin pads and gum shields are "advisory" but I've not bought them, we have a similar thing too - there's a gym skirt/pe shorts/jogging bottoms, polo shirt, jogging top, p.e. fleece. We had to order the uniform back in May from the only supplier which is 30 miles away from the school. Crazy. Luckily DH's StepDad paid for most of it - DH's sister sent us a "uniform fund" cheque which covered the rest and the voulentary school fund payment of £50  I would have happily bought from the 2nd hand uniform shop but when I phoned to enquire, the next sale wasn't until they started back at school - seems silly to me. I've just got to spend the next 2 weeks ironing in all the name tags and then go shopping for the gym shoes, trainers and school shoes - ouch.

Overcast here this morning but feels quite muggy - slept so badly last night - will be glad when this cycle is over and I'm off my fertility hormones - although they've not had the desired effect baby wise, I shall be glad to see the back of the hot flushes.

Nothing major planned for today - DD's are both still in bed after their exhausting weekend with grandparents - shall get them to help me with a few bits later and this afternoon we need to have a clear out of the cupboard - lots of baking stuff coming to the end of it's shelf life so need to use it up.

Hugs to all in need - Queenie - great to see you back, have a fab time in Bognor the boys will love it....where are you going to go next year? (well done on the vouchers btw)

Hope you all have a great day.

    Hi Every1,

I've tried to read through but DD's are bouncing all over the place so I haven't been able to get very far. I will later though when they are tired out and not full of beans;) !!

    ITS RAINING AGAIN!!!!!!!

I'm off work until 13th Sept and it's unpaid:eek: so I need to keep spending to a min and making money to a max!

I'm going to read and take kids to library nearly every day - Our local one has a soft play area and is really child orientated . They can make as much noise as they want and no one minds.

I want to work on a monthly menu plan where I can spend one day a month batch cooking;) .

I'm going to start matched betting again to see if I can make a bit of money to pay the mortgage to cover the unpaid leave I'm taking for the rest of summer hols.

Dog is going to have some concentrated training! He got bitten on the bottom by a rottweiler yesterday:eek: because he just doesn't understand that some dogs don't want to play:A . We are going to go and see if the training classes I used to take our other dog to are still running.

I'm going to go and run DD1's bath to get peace and quiet in one ear :rotfl:

((((((((HUGS))))))))) to every1 that wants/needs one.

    Luv Jxxx

    Morning All :hello:

Don't computers suck the life out of you? I've been browsing websites etc since I got up at 7:20 and have done nothing else apart from feed the cats! AAaargh.

Hoglets - how wonderful! We've just started having a hedgehog back in the set of gardens again. Nearly trodden on it twice! Not sure where it's hanging out but it is nice to see one around again. We've been hedgehog-free for a couple of years now. Wish they'd learn to poo on the soil rather than the lawn though :)

Yesterday went in a blur of car-boot-prep. Yes honestly, I really do have a bunch of stuff. Priced up a load just so that we can get rid of it. When OH and I did one last year we were inundated with people compared to others around us - I think the buyers knew we were naive! We hadn't sussed prices out properly so had to think on the spot, so this year - price it up and we don't even have to talk to eachother to sell it. .... still have boxes of clothes to sort through though!

Cute - Echo-cat giving Finlay a groom. Now if he can only keep his paws to himself ... yeah right.

Have been putting books outside since Friday to sell at 50p. Sold 30 so far! Shame it's raining hard today - would like that streak to continue!

Have a good one folks. Must go get up properly or something!

    Happy anniversary SOMO1
    Fingers crossed for Scuzz
Belated happy birthday to Elona (I was too busy wittering on about hubby yesterday)
Hugs to Frogga, I remember those days well

I'm late posting today, I drove hubby to the station and as we got there his phone rang, no work today the weather is too bad so we drove home again & I cooked him a full breakfast, & it will probably be bad tomorrow, he will work Sat & Sun to make it up.
Some good news here, it looks like his work will be lasting a few extra weeks, hooray.
I got a letter from the IRS about 6 months ago saying I hadn't filled in a tax form for 2003/4, I had as I did it online & rec'd a rebate of £400, not something I'm likely to forget. I filled a paper copy in & today I received 2 letters from them one saying they have paid £334 into my bank account & 1 saying they own me £218!!!
So it looks like they still don't know whether they are coming or going, I'm going to stick the money in my savings account so I don't spend it by mistake, no doubt they will ask for it back soon, lol.
Plans for today, back to the post office to upset the counter staff again, though I only have 3 or 4 parcels today. I also have 5 more books to list on Amazon.
Hope everyone has a good day
    Hugs Hester

  • Hello everyone

Frogga - I really feel for you. It's one thing doing without stuff for yourself, quite another when it comes to the kids. I was broke when my boy was little and as we lived in a very wealthy area he did without a lot of stuff his friends took for granted. I went through agonies over it. The others are right though - I bought stuff off the compulsory uniform list that he literally never wore - very annoying. It definitely is worth waiting and seeing what's really needed before buying some things.

I'm teaching a German class this morning then pottering about in the afternoon then birthday tea for my stepson - HM pizza and chocolate cake (already made - I made myself nearly sick last night licking out bowls!) I've got my DH at home this week on holiday - we can't afford to go away anywhere this time but it's lovely just having him at home. Shame about the weather!

Good morning everyone, I need to get into town to get some worming tablets for the dog but it would cost me at least £6 in bus fare with the kids so i'll wait till oh has a day off and let him take me.Just been looking at bank statements and noticed a club oh was in but cancelled memebership months ago are still taking money out so need to get oh to recoucil direct debit and then reclaim his money back. Might get some baking done today but need to give living room a good going over first.Hubby got me a food processer yestday from lidl i mentioned i read about them on os board and he loves kitchen gadgets more then me lol so he went and got me one yayyyyy had a bit of a play with it last night and it will definatly get used it has a liquidiser too which is good as i threw the lid away on mine and have to use a saucer instead.Need to check whats in my holiday box and make a weeks menu we'r staying in a caravan for a week on the 25th of this month. yesterday dd2 decided while i'd nipped out to start packing and packed everything off the ironing board plus everything off the washing line think she may have packed ohs work shirts lol so need to unpack cases again later.

  • That's good news Hester, tell your DP to enjoy his enforced day off.

Does anyone else have a long-haired cat who throws up regularly?? Ours does, shes just done it outside, yesterday it was in the kitchen (but only cause I'd heard her and chucked her in there in time. sigh. PITA when she does it on the carpet.
