I'm sorry but I agree with the others about the window cleaner, its not a necessity and the money would be best put to use paying off your debts. I haven't had my rear windows cleaned in 2 years due to building works in the garden and even now they aren't filthy. Why don't you cancel it and see how you get on, then if you decide that you absolutely can't live without it at least you have given it a try.
This was my general approach to everything when trying to cut back my spending, the only thing I couldn't trade down was butter, sausages and my tv/internet package as I need the internet for work and the tv is our only entertainment/treat. Oh and hubby kept a personal mobile as he was self employed.
We each have our own things we won't trade down on. I would never insist on butter, sausages and tv package. Hair cuts and windows cleaned are more important to me0 -

I love the way people say 'get rid of the car and get something smaller and cheaper to run' when the person who owns the car is in a financial pickle.
USN states that the value of both cars is £6,000. However, she hasn't stated the value of the individual cars. Her oh's could be worth £5k and hers £1k for all we know.
Anyway, better the car you know than a new one you don't.
Right, I'll now climb down from my moral high horse and congratulate the op on walking to the post box and back. As she felt tired on the return trip and had in the past, fallen over, I will suggest that she gets a wlker with a flip-down seat. My mum has one and it allows her a bit more freedom to move around the house and garden as she knows if she is feeling tired, she can sit down and recover for a short while.
If the op lives near a are home, then it would be worth asking them if they have any that are str as all they do with them is throw them out.
The cars are about £3000 each. The cars are staying. We both need large cars but never buy new ones. They are both about 8 years old.
A walker would be a good idea0 -
Had another NSD today.0

How about a magnetic, DIY cleaning kit?

I still stand by that you don't need a window cleaner. My car has needed a wash for about a month now and my hose pipe has broke so I want to take it for a valet which costs a tenner for the inside and out but I won't take it til I have got paid and covered all my necessary bills and if I still can't justify it it will wait another month. That's how strict you need to become with yourself I'm afraid. As for haircuts, 8-10 weeks is so close together, if you have to have them I'd stretch it out a further couple of weeks so that you are saving a bit of money. As others have mentioned, you seem very quick to put any suggestions down, if I was that worried about my finances I would be actioning as many suggestions as possible, in fact I myself am having a week where my finances are very tight and I have done everything in my power to not spend additional money.0

We savr money by washing and valeting car at home. Never pay for it to be done. Haircut is whenever it needs doing. Windowcleaner once a month. Money has been saved elsewhere. I am pleased with how much I haven't spent in the last couple of weeks compared to what I would normally spend0

Me again!
Thought I'd give you an idea re haircuts - If you're making a trip to the shops/ in to the nearest down, why not check out your local college? Many run hairdressing and barbering courses and the students always need clients to practice on. They are supervised by a lecturer and area fraction of salon prices.
I work in a FE college and a wash and trim here is £6. Men get free haircuts on a Wednesday as they are really short of male clients.
They will probably be closed now for the summer, but worth thinking about for September.
As an addition, if you feel the need to treat yourself, they may offer beauty treatments and really low prices too - eg here a manicure is £4.Debt 2008 - Approx £20k | April 2014 £6526 | 30 October 2015 DEBT FREE
PPI claim success - £4338 & £764

If she's only spending £11 for BOTH of them to get their hair cut at home why on earth would she waste money on fuel driving to a college where it would probably cost her more to have her hair cut by a student as opposed a fully qualified hairdresser? Makes absolutely no sense at all.
I could understand if she was visiting a salon and paying £30-£40 per haircut! But she's already paying a minimal amount for this.0
