:hello: Gooooood Evening, fellow OS’ers JJJ
Apologies for my absence and for any/all concern that has generated. It’s been a toughie few weeks in the house of Queenie: fond farewells to people of the heart; fare-the-well’s to dreams of things which could have been/should have been – will never be; equally tough has the been the need to respond to correspondence, beautiful and heartfelt correspondence – which has proved very difficult to respond to and has therefore gone unsaid. *insert guilt trip*. It is difficult for me to respond and I do so hope that the senders will be patient with me and understanding. I *will* respond – when the words can flow and the tears do not! I have been touched to the very core by the heartfelt words of fellow users, who will probably never know the comfort their words have brought; thank you is always such a hollow word compared to it’s fullest meaning, yet, as it’s all I have … Thank You!! (You know who you are!).
OS wise, I plod on! With the school holidays abounding, picnics, beach trips, park trips have been very much the order of the day when I have the boys to myself. On the times when they are with their Dad, I have kept myself busy between the gym, secret preparations for our Butlins’ trip (this Friday thru to Monday; can’t wait! Change is as good as a rest) and snagging bargains for my d11yo’s 12th birthday next Sunday! He has no idea we are going away for the long weekend and I have paid extra to have the redcoats bring a cake to the table and sing him Happy Birthday
I’ve almost finished wrapping his gifts for his ASK (for those who don’t know = Adolescent Survival Kit) and have a few bits to do tonight – they will be home tomorrow teatime and I need to have it all in the boot of the car, out of the way! Friday morning, I shall go to the gym first thing and the lads will go to the library: when I get back I shall put the suitcases into the car, then collect them from the library and tell them I’m going for a drive (watch out Bognor!)
Today was Tesco clubcard day and I’m over-the-moon to report I now have enough clubcard points to convert into deals so that this time next year, we will have a holiday abroad! Wooooohooooooo!!!! It’s taken a lot of thought, couple playing and coupon savvy to get enough points for this but hey, I’ve *earned* it nowAgain, this will be a surprise for the lads :shhh:
It’s always hard when you have to pay full price at the heart of summer season … but I won’t take them out of school for holidays; it’s all about priorities for me and I daren’t take a holiday which might/not conflict with SATS or otherwise.
On the home front, I have been a periodic fly baby! But that is more down to looking for something important and decluttering along the way rather than a concentrated effort! The recycle bins have become my new bestest friends
Wishing you all only good things, ((Hugs)) for those in need! Love n luck to all
PS: Many Happy Returns elona!!! Hope you have a good day filled with spoiling and love~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

(((((hugs))))))) Queenie I hope your lads appreciate all the hard work and thought that you put into giving them treats. Make sure you get some R&R in Bognor, thre will be plenty for them to do, so pamper yourself. Watch out Amie!
Pen-Pin how did you get on at the hospital, hope they didn't have to keep you in.
Oh I wish we had an email for one of Jackie's DD's so we knew how she was doing. Keeping fingers crossed.
Been to both Lidl and Aldi, and managed to fit a Boots in too, but forgot to use my £10 voucher to pay for it:oDoh!

Good Evening,
Wasn't able to post this morning as we were in a bit of a rush. Thank you so much for all the welcoming comments - it is nice to feel part of something straight away.
I hope that you all have had great days - getting washing organised and snuggling a new baby - there's nothing like it is there?
Hester, I hope it is ok to comment on your DH's situation, but I have spent years as a carer for my mum who is disabled, and it seem really ridiculous that he only gets such a pathetic amount. Have you checked out the disability discrimination act for the workplace? It is online and normally helps loads. I would really chase up the benefits people - how on earth can they expect that amount to be satisfactory. The people at the CAB are incredibly helpful.
We had a fabulous day out today. We went to Dunham Massey - if any of you are ever near to Manchester Airport, it is on the approach motorway. It is a National Trust house that has been owned by a family for hundreds of years - really beautiful family home that has a feeling of having been loved. There is also a deer park and my two (DDs aged 5 & 10) had a fantastic time.
Then when we arrived home, the laptop lunchboxes I'd ordered for my girls had arrived - huge excitement and they're planning more days out so we can take the bento boxes. It's really beyond sad just how excited we were - DH rolls his eyes and wanders off with his cusotmary 'women!' comment - poor man lives with four of us (including his MIL - should be down for sainthood really)
I hope the rest of the evening is good for everyone.
Take care,
Tilly
xxThanks to this fantastic site and it's amazing people, we have paid over £63, 000 off - just over half way!!!:T THANK YOU:T0 -
Evening all,
Have been very busy all day and seemed to get very little done! Defrosted fridge freezer which tbh is on its last legs, but can't really replace yet as I am trying to remodel kitchen and not sure which size will fit....
Happy Birthday Elona and Ms N9eav:bdaycake: :bdaycake: hope you both are having a lovely day.
Welcome back Queenie, we've missed you and been thinking of you....hugs.
Hester, you OH really seems to have had a bad throw of the dice...I understand that self-employment makes a difference to benefit but £17, while better than nothing, seems insulting...is your high salary reducing it???
Definitely try your MP, can't do any harm.
JackieO and PenPin, thinking of you both
Welcome to the newbies, you will like it here, I promise.
Went to garden centre to get some vermiculite to put with compost in my new 'garden'....my two four feet square boxes which are, I hope going to add to the productivity and variety of my garden...have lots of room for more if these two work out and OH has lots more timber he can use to make them.
Charlie's Mum...congratulations on the birth of your beautiful grand-daughter..nice weight, hope that she and mum are well and that Grandma is recovering...I love having my grandchildren around they are such fun and yes you can hand them back when you are tired!
Off to do some knitting and watch some soap now...coffee first I think
Apologies to those I have forgotten...hugs and best wishes as required.

lovely to hear from you again Queenie, big hugs to you xx
your boys are lucky to have such a great Mum0 -
Queenie
Big hug and we all hope to see you back here and feeling better soon as you have helped so many of us.
Hester
Good luck with the mp- he should be doing a monthly "surgery" - ask at your library.
Had a great birthday and feel really spoiled.
DDs set the table with the good china and flowers and cooked a lasagne from scratch with salad and potato wedges on the side.
They then produced a home made chocolate cake - cut in the shape of my age with candles on it.
Having a browse on here and being lazy while they load the dishwasher.
Even DH noticed my hair looked different after they had cut and dyed it for me."This site is addictive!"

evening all!
Hello Queenie - best wishes to you x have a lovely time at butlins - by the way I see they have a new art deco hotel there now?
Glad your had a nice day elona - wouldnt mind some of that choccy cake right now with a cuppa;):D
CM - think the meteor shower is still on tonite? so we could set our alarm clocks....then again maybe not:D If I had remembered I could have seen it last nite as I was up till 1am!!, I had dozed off on the old sofa, went to bed then couldnt sleep!
I'm also no good at the meal planning - cos I never know what i fancy eating either - so just take it day-by-day.
suppose i'd better be good and go do some ironing - have a good evening all!0 -
Evening all
It was just another day of wo*k for me - a necessary evil as far as I am concerned. However I've been fairly productive this evening, having got the kitchen cleaned and some floors swept and washed.
Mitzy is settling down really well - I let her out with the two big boys all day and all three of them were chilled and relaxed when I got home. Hopefully there weren't too many spats when I was out. I will post some pictures soon I promise, I haven't gone digital as I am into "fancy" cameras which cost hundreds of pounds, and at the moment don't have that amount of dosh available to convert. Nor do I want to make my absolutely fantastic but horrendously expensive "professional" film SLR obsolete just cos everyone else seems to be going digital!
Queenie, glad you're back, it's always a worry when one of our number isn't around for a while.
MeanMarie - did you get the PM I sent you a while ago?
Shez - I looked out my windows at around 2.00am but there wasn't a single star never mind a free light show. There is little light pollution here, and usually the night sky is very bright and clear - but last night there were lots of rainclouds bobbing about...
Happy birthday Elona!! Glad you got spoilt. Did you say chocolate cake? Mmmm chocolate cake:rolleyes:
Congratulations to Charliesmum, becoming a gran.
Csarina - grrr I absolutely detest bonfires in private gardens. Neighbours in my last place used to do that nearly every weekend during the summer. They didn't care about the heat and how the rest of us had to keep our windows closed and rewash our washing etc etc. Makes me cross just thinking about it now...
That's it, guess I could do a spot of filing now. Or alaternatively I think I might just enter a few competitions as I have been insirpired by CatOwen.
Night all.
