Why don't all you worriers go to your local supermarket and use the self-checkout. Take all of your debit cards and put through one or two items on each card, rather than putting through your whole shop on one card. This will maximise the activity on each of your current accounts. Repeat daily until your symptoms disappear.0

.One should not have to use a debit card, I've never used my hsbc d/c, and have been with them 50+ years. Credit cards are for paying,so why use a debit card, if it's not needed.
How many times is required to be in the spirit of T/c's??
If they don't want us, drop the rate, and see the mass exodus, the same as Vantage and Enhance, there's plenty of banks around
.3%. I remember back in 1993 getting 17 %., but, inflation was 21%.it's all relative0 -

I would imagine that changing the amounts each month etc would help prevent this as it will be automatic software which would be picking up the patterns and then bringing it to the attention of a team who would investigate it further. Much the same as money laundering would be initially caught by software.
Most t&c's state that the accounts have to be your "main" bank account so if you have little use and obvious set ups to circumvent that for gain then they would close you down.
It's a bit like the multinational companies and the shell companies they set up to move money around for tax reasons. Not illegal usually but morally wrong and if it's blatant governments sometimes step in.0 -

I think you will find that none of the T&Cs do state this, or even contain any definition of "main account".0 -

It did not say I had to use the new A/c as my main A/c.
It stopped me switching to it,as my main A/c is Hsbc, for 50+ years I've been with them.
Also, I have umpteen other A/cs, one of which I've just switched to Halifax Reward.Nationwide Flexi..0 -
I saw one bank, that said I must switch my main A/c, but, I cannot remember which one.?
To get paid a switching bonus, the T&Cs might detail some other requirements (e.g. "at least 2 DDs") but you won't find a definition of "main account" in any of the switching T&Cs we have seen to date.0 -

"Simply use the Current Account Switch Service to transfer your main bank account to us from another bank or building society. When you switch and maintain a minimum of 2 active Direct Debits and pay in at least £1000 per month, we’ll give you £150"0
