you've nothing to fear, than, fear itself.
 i don't there is any need for fear at all. i don't think the closures are very widespread, and i know several people who are in a similar boat that aren't on this forum who haven't had any contact from HBOS.
fwiw i would always request the Debit Cards. for one thing, if you want to move an account, for an incentive or other deal, it makes it a lot easier.
agreed re. chequebooks though.. i just have them for my three 'main' accounts.0 -

I will use this a bit more than the others, until I decide to reswitch it.after my £200 has gone in the bank, not really bothered about the £5 per month.see how it goes.

Here is a strange one, I put my Lloyds Debit card in a TSB Cash Machine today and I got a full Mini Statement, I tried my NatWest card and it would only give me a balance.
Now I did not expect the NatWest card to give me a mini statement as it is not my bank nor is it part of the TSB group, but if Lloyds and the TSB are no longer linked why can the TSB machine retrieve all my statement data like they used to do when it was LloydsTSB ?, the only explanation is they are still linked and not as separate as we are lead to believe.
If you have a Lloyds card try it in a TSB machine you may get a surprise !.0 -
TSB's systems are still run by Lloyds...MikeSmith61 wrote: »Here is a strange one, I put my Lloyds Debit card in a TSB Cash Machine today and I got a full Mini Statement. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Nobody else has a horse on the debit card
But otherwise: Halifax Clarity CC is the best overseas card, Halifax Rewards are good extra income if you don't have savings, free cinema tickets with Lloyds Club, and almost top 0% BT CCs if you already have a Barclaycard.
It's not the end of the world, but it would be annoying.0 -
Banker
Clare Smith*, 37, £170,000 plus £400,000 discretionary bonus
Yes, you read right. I get a £400,000 annual bonus. That's why most bankers won't talk about what they get paid. That and the fact that they could lose their job for doing so.
this is why every body should milk what they can in interest, bankers seem to do a good job0 -
I don't want to carry around 15 or so debit cards for buying stuff, especially when I have 0% interest and/or cashback credit cards exactly for that purpose.
I do have at least one "real" direct debit on all accounts that require them though (just Halifax Reward and Club Lloyds).
I don't carry all my DCs around! Once a month I start a "cycle". On day one I put DC1 in my wallet, then on day two I swap it for DC2 etc. Before the end of the second week I've finished until next month. Total spend on all DC's in a cycle is way less than £50, so the cashback/slow stooze lost on that is negligible.0 -
agreed that it would be annoying Herbalus.. fwiw if Halifax Rewards and the TSB Plus that i've just opened were closed i wouldn't be too concerned, but i would like to continue with Club Lloyds. that, my RBS account and Barclays & HSBC Premier accounts are 'keepers' for me. i want those ongoing relationships, giving options business-wise.I don't carry all my DCs around! that's quite a commitment in order to keep those accounts active with spending though, and more effort than many people here, including myself. as it happens i spend on Amex, or CapOne where i can't, or spend small amounts on a new debit card in order to try to ensure that they class the account as active. so currently i am using my new TSB card.. but that's only until i receive the £100 transfer incentive.0
