Just want to show my laptop pics on to the tv. Seems a lot of micro usb out there, for the mobile phone but I want a standard usb. Also a straight cable , not having to buy a usb to hmdi adapter and then having to buy a separate hmdi cable from adapter to tv
Ebay just seems to be micro / adapters
Thanks

usb is not video , may I suggest a "chromecast" or even cheaper , and prob better for you a EZcast http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GOOGLE-CHROMECAST-EZCAST-MEDIA-PLAYER-TV-STICK-PUSH-DONGLE-CHROME-CAST-USB-MAC-/381248973349?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item58c435aa250

Good suggestion but is it still OTT for just a few photo's?0

ok , you are keeping quiet on your equipment ,
laptop:
does it have a vga out or a hdmi out?
tv:
does it have a usb slot
does it have a VGA input
does it have a HDMI input0 -
(or displayport?)0
-
true , I was thinking of just chucking the photos on a pendrive and viewing them via the TV or DVD player0

USB to video adapters can be a bit hit and miss; I bought a USB-VGA one, but it requires USB 3 to work in higher resolutions, and nothing I've tried recognizes it as USB 3.
So I would suggest looking at the other options - what outputs does the laptop have (what make & model is it)?0 -
I have a number of laptops, all have USB ports, one of the older models has a HMDI . But the photo's are on the latest and that has not.
Now I could move photos to a usb stick, and use the dvd player to view.
I could buy the suggested "chromecast"
But the original question still stands, is it possible just have a simple usb to hmdi ?
Ebay is full of micro to hmdi , wonderful for a phone0 -
"Ebay is full of micro to hmdi , wonderful for a phone "
yes micro HDMI to normal hdmi , not usb
see post 7 (above) I have in the past tried adaptors etc , with failures .
I am now beginning to worry giving advice , if you do not know how to copy photos to a pendrive .
your tv/dvd will have a menu that will allow you to read usb sticks ,0 -
I started my computer journey with good old DOS. Have made my request VERY simple
Is there a USB to HMDI cable in existence ?
If you believe that the item is not available, will only then look at the alternatives.0 -
you are better looking at other ways of doing this , I would simply copy the picis to the other laptop and use a hdmi cable , (free apart from a £1 cable) or go down the ezcast or sum micro 4 route ,
OR copy them to a pendrive and simply view them via the tv remote ,
you have omitted to ask most of the questions regarding your equipment , so its hard to progress any further .
and in answer to your question "Is there a USB to HMDI cable in existence "
