Windows guaranteed for 10 years but not the glass?!?!:rotfl: who allows this moronic logic?
Sorry to hear you think your pay is wrong, you are quite right that every little helps. I'm not sure why companies pay an accounts department at all sometimes.
Sorry to hear chromebook is messing you about. Enjoy your £1 breakfast, they have just announced they are closing our Ikea.
Lol! Re: whoopi Goldberg reference!
Last day this week of lots of work, so I'd better go and get ready

Yup - glass not guaranteed in a double glazed door :rotfl: and further more actually told me that had I bought double glazing windows - then that's the same - not guaranteed  WT?Will see how CAB get on, and if no joy, will post on works media, which around - not even sure how many - at least tens of thousands of employees will see it and hopefully avoid them. However - a waiting game.
Thank goodness I got my double glazed windows elsewherewith a 10 year guarantee and best service, I actually mentioned that one of my handles felt a bit rough after they had finished, and they came and replaced it :j
Shame about your ike@ store, but I do find stores are disappearing fast, a few of my favourites have
already closedActually not a great fan of ike@, but do buy the odd bits in there.
Enjoy your last day at work:)Always have 00.00 at the end of your mortgage and one day it will all be 0's :dance:MF[STRIKE] March 2030[/STRIKE] Yes that does say 2030  Mortgage Free 21.12.18 _party_Now a Part Timer from 27.10.190 -
Re taking your pension or not - I cannot advise you but the key things are:
- If you take all of it now, how much would it reduce by, by taking it earlier than your scheme's normal pension age (5% per year is about normal)
- What is the cost of taking it that much early (eg age 57, 3 years, 15% - multiply your pension to find out the cost of taking it early
- Then look at the benefit of taking it early - ie, as above 3 years (36 months of £xx.pp) to see how long you need to live to make that a net cost rather than benefit.
- I am curious why you want to take it all while you are still working part time and have already paid off your debts, including your mortgage. Why do you need it all? If you take all of it I believe you also opt out of your occupational pension if you do this? Does that not remove any entitlement for death in service benefits?
- If you take part of it, why would you do this now? have you got a major purchase in mind?

Thanks SL,
Your points 1,2 and 3 - not taking it earlythe date it "matures" is around 6-8 weeks away. Although have an option to take 25% tax free
and leave the rest. Maybe I used the wrong word "pension" I didn't know I had this up to a couple of years ago
and never physically paid anything towards it
Seems I opted out years ago (obviously not knowing what I was doing, and still don't if the truth be told) and the date of retirement (changed days ) was my 60th birthday, which is now only 7 weeks away. The pot is substantial (for me anyway) so a nice bonus.
I was always a good saver (with what I got) but along with that I was always a good lender
often leaving myself with just enough, but never, ever had any debts. However that will come back to me eventually. So the thought of having the savings I had before buying property and lending is a nice thought and doing improvements if I want, without having to think where the money is coming from.
I have a list of "wants" and a list of "needs" and a list of "to dos" and the sum will help very nicely, thank you very much :j without touching savings
I still have a pension at work, not touching that - for now, this one is a wee bonus.
When your young, not earning very much, a very small spell of unemployment and a few years self employed meant I would never get a mortgage, a property seemed practically impossible (which is why I bought very late in life).
So although not "up there" I feel I have done well in a short space of time, and although could do better in retirement, have seen and heard about so many (especially in my work) who either don't make it to retirement or retire and can't enjoy it.
My dad was 50 yrs when he was retired and luckily was in a fantastic pension scheme, but didn't have the health to enjoy it to the full, and passed away before his 70th birthday, and had a friend in work who paid into pension for 34 years, took ill and passed away at 50 yrs.
Sorry, probably too much info, but probably tells how I feel about the retirement age rising and pensions etc. Enjoy now, while your here and can.
And if things get really bad, I can always sell my 3 bedroom house, which has increased 40% in value since buying 8 years ago and downsize. I'll be alright.
I just wish I understood pensionsbetter.
