  • Busy day planned for you then!

    Fingers crossed re: lamps.

Sorry to hear spain is a sore subject, I might wait to ask why until I return! :D

Nothing could appeal to me more than being given the cold shoulder at work! Some members of management already are doing as I was rude enough to return to work after a long spell of ill health! You couldn't make it up. It will make a great book tho ;)

Enjoy the sunshine ( if you have some)

  • Only one more day to go, then I see what my new interest amount will be for the month, its actually been really hard not to o/p this month (although I did at the very beginning of the month to round down to under the next 500).

Been busy doing nothing, so it seems, as I still have a huge list. So today, I'm aiming for all ironing to be done, and if its as nice as yesterday will get the grass cut - hedge was cut yesterday. Put washing on, re-arrange some furniture and then get round to making some new curtains and cushion covers for my spare room. That should keep me busy for today.

Have now earned around £13 from surveys, so will keep going with that, and have had a good month on the bay, so very pleased with that.

    Now lets get ironing.

Well, that took an age, new interest amount, mortgage & o/p has just appeared on the balance just now, and instead of me :j i'm a bit :(.
Interest went from £4.04 to £1.78 a day:) so saving over £70.00 on interest alone every month.

I know all good in the end but still  at myself and mortgage co.

Myself because - I should have moved off my back...., and done it sooner. Keep thinking of all that wasted time (18 months)

Mortgage co because - while re-mortgaging I upped my payments to what I was comfortable with, and reduced my term, that was before the interest rate changed. I could have upped more had I the sense/been brought to my attention I would be saving over £70 a month on interest alone.

So have now re-assessed the whole mortgage "thing" and have came up with a new plan/goal.

Pay monthly mortgage, and o/p fixed sum, every month, and then o/p lump sums as and when I can/feel like.. This will suit me fine, as things were not moving fast enough for me. Now I have a plan/goal, things just need to calm down a little and in making a fixed sum o/p for myself means I could be mortgage free in 5 years.

Feel much better now I have set a fixed amount/goal for o/p each month, at least this way I'll be chipping away at it.:)

My other target is for the end of the year, to try and o/p the 10% allowed, big ask as i'm trying to do this in
3 months:eek:, then next year i'll have 12 months to do this.:)

Hopefully I've not bored you completely, just good to get thoughts sorted out and written down.

Ending on a cheer up note - I have calculated the no. of months I have to go, and re named my mortgage account this, that way when I o/p I can reduce the no of months, so see the balance going down, but also the months dropping off:j This tickles me no end:rotfl:.

Thanks for bearing with me and reading.:A

    Hi

Try not to be too hard on yourself. We are all guilty of not making the best decisions sometimes ( financial or otherwise :D). You have done it now, saved £70 a month ( £840 a year pay rise anyone?!). Great new plan. I think you are doing great. Think of all the people who never pay one extra penny off their mortgage, and how much that costs them. Five years sounds very reasonable to be mortgage free.

    Have a good afternoon

    Thanks Bexster,

I know, its just that I hate paying a penny more than need to. Such a penny pincher:D in some ways;).

    From 18 years to 8 years in 3 1/2 years is ok. But my report card would say;

Good effort 8/10, but could do better 10/10.:rotfl:

    Have a nice afternoon, too.

    Thanks LIL,

but 10 years to me is very loooong to me, especially at my age, so have updated my MF target to 5 years, well I can but try.

Took a nosy peek into your diary, last night (got half way through) and we do have very similar journeys, I bought house at auction, and so work needed done, stripped all walls, got tiles off kitchen walls, new front door fitted, brother done electrics, got plastered, oops - got plasterer in, then set about painting, just as you have been doing, my loft was floored, well most of it anyway, and even got loft ladder fitted- exact same as yours - good choice. Oh, and that's the reason I need new fittings for lights in hall, I pull ladder down and it hits my lovely chandelier type lampshade, so needed something higher to ceiling.

Had a few disasters on the way, and took 9 months in all (was staying with my mum while work being done) and thought its was time I moved out when I got a special xmas card from my mum saying on the front of it
"Your First Christmas in your New Home" - hint or what?

Bulbs are supposed to be led energy efficient ones, they save 85% energy, as I said to Bexster, how does that work as I now need 3 instead on 1. Your mum's must be super energy saving efficient for that price.

Your doing great, so quickly and have things worked out you have a good head start. That was my big problem, do I want this or do I want that, took me ages to decide - just like most things. However I get there eventually. I never came across this site until about 2 years into my mortgage or I might well be on my way to MF in 5 years or sooner.

    Good Luck,

Great story there i guess you was late moving out of your mums ?
Loads of my friends got places when we was 18-20 i never did and saved a deposit instead so 8 years on here i am 28 and will have a place finished very soon with a ltv of around 60-70%

that was a big hin with the card hehe

Ya when i go to get stuff for example carpet today i spend 1-2-3hours there but get a price on 3-4 carpets and pick one thing thinking about flooring for 2-3 weeks there's a month gone easily done

and 5 years wow that would be amazing :]

are you in the forever home do you thing ?

:rotfl:Late moving out of my mum's ?? :rotfl:- I was only a couple of years older than you are at the time - 29, did you think I have only just moved out ?:rotfl: (sorry for laughing, but ... the very thought of it - just lets say one of us wouldn't be here today) ... then I went on to rent a flat:eek: for 22 years:eek: - I know, I know.:o Howinever, i've got my own house now:D and yeah the card made me move in - wasn't quite finished but I moved in Christmas Eve.

I am aiming for 5 years, but so many things can change in that time, so lets just take a step/goal at a time. Forever house - I don't know - what do I need with a 3 bedroomed house (far too small - hehe) - could sell and be mortgage free but time is just not right at present, guess I'll know when the time comes:).

Tell me about it, I'm so indecisive its unreal, I know in an instant if I really like a thing, but to decide what I need and where its to go, too many rooms to do all at once. Youv'e still got all that to come:p

    Good Luck

  • Hello :)

You are doing very very well & musn't beat yourself up. I think a 5 year target sounds fantastic, that is my timeframe too, even if we don't quite manage it we've all given it a ruddy good shot right?!

    Have a lovely Sunday xx

Renting has its place dont it i guess if you can buy a cheaper place just to get on the ladder that is the way to go

My trick is to think about what i want then get to the shop put together as much stuff as i need/want and then work on a discount if they cant do me a good discount i walk away till i find somewhere that can

99% of places will do a great discount if you spend over a certain price :]

So much choice in life tho we are spoilt lol
