Apple has just announced that Apple Pay will be coming to the UK from next month.
Looks like most banks will support it:
RBS Group, Lloyds Banking Group, HSBC Group, TSB, Santander, Nationwide, American Express, M&S Bank, MBNA.
No Barclays, Virgin, Clydesdale/Yorkshire, Tesco.

Retailers at launch: 250,000 merchant locations including M&S, Boots, Costa, Waitrose, Subway and Nandos. 250,000 sounds a lot but probably isn't. It's only going to take off if we can use it everywhere in place of cards.
You can also use it on the bus (London only??) and of course on the tube0 -

Hopefully it will work anywhere contactless is accepted. Though I have some doubts about that..0 -

You can use it anywhere that accepts contactless - the Apple website confirms it: http://www.apple.com/uk/apple-pay/where-to-use-apple-pay/0 -
There were just over 200,000 places accepting contactless in the UK in December so they must mean that Apple Pay will be accepted everywhere where contactless is available. Brilliant!0

Great, thanks! I have read that in the US some retailers have disabled (or not enabled) Apple Pay.0 -
Does anyone know if you need to have a contactless card to set it up with? I'm wondering I'll be able to use my nationwide credit card.
I wonder if it'll even be in a retailers power to block it here. Could it just look like a normal contactless card to UK terminals?
I really don't know much about it. Must do some reading!:)0 -

There are competing systems in the US, much like BluRay and whatever it was that didn't win and is now forgotten. So ApplePay isn't compatible with the current set up in WalMart for example, because Walmart are part of a group who are pushing an alternative system.0 -

Yeah, CurrentC. The retailers (or maybe it was just one) I was talking about supported contactless but Apple Pay did not work.
Do you know much about Zapp, the UK equivalent of CurrentC? I do know they have said they won't stop their supporters from also supporting Apple Pay.0 -

Yes you will be able to use your Nationwide credit card, they have stated that it should work with all their cards via twitter yesterday, as people were asking the same question as you.
Yes it will use the same contactless terminals as we already use here in the UK.
Also Apple Pay isn't limited to the £20 limit that contactless is at the moment, so you could say do your weekly shop which maybe more than £20 and pay for it via Apple pay.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -
Eagerly awaiting all the posts about kids going out treating themselves to all sorts of high value electronic items after mum and dad stored CC details on their iPhones thinking it would only be used for a 'few apps'.0
