The broadband from sky is normally ADSL which means that it comes over the phone line, so you would have to pay line rental. And if you want a new phone you can get a very cheap one from Argos or Asda :)

annoying all the same that I pay for broadband but have to pay line rental for it to travel down...rather frustrating when we don't really need a landline as we use our free minutes in the mobiles

I did think about a dongle but read that the Internet isnt as reliable on it and Mr monkeys needs to be connected when he works from home...

Don't you need all the doors to store your stashes behind ;)

If only... One door leads to the hallway, one to the pantry under the stairs, one to the back garden and one to the front garden!!!

Sky gets me :mad:too. We have broadband and home phone package as well as family bundle yet we don't use the landline because the phone is broken!! So I pay line rental for nothing...

I am with sky and pay £4-50 unlimited broadband and £15-50 for line rental but don't use phone :( I have my mobile.

We are also in the midst of negotiating with sky but not getting far.

So I got the chap to say our discussion and I said I would call back - or rather I hope that they would call me back with so,etching better.

So far I've got £5 a month for unlimited landline calls including 0845 same as last year.

£5 for unlimited broadband down from £7.50 - but we have a very slow line so it's not really unlimited.

£29.50 for the family package - about the same as he gave a discount

£11.50 line rental - free last year - this is the bit that really annoys us last year it was free - we used to pay annually so it worked out at about £10 a month - can't pay annually any more but he said its something they are thinking about - yes I am sure they are!

So it's still the wrong side of £50  It was £44 something, just gone up to £45 - another £17 going on the bill on August 1st

Maybe I could try ringing again in the morning - now I think about it I want sure if I was talking to the cancellations department

When I spoke to Sky just before Christmas to try negotiate a new deal for my package, I also got offered 10% off one thing, £3 off another, 8% off another etc. I asked why they could not just simply work out what the package I wanted would cost and offer a straight discount over the whole thing. The lady I was speaking to said that they could not offer one discount over a package as a whole, but that Sky have offers with different things that could be discounted in each one item type, so she had to try piece together a package from bits of each offer to try come up with something acceptable for me.

At the end of the day they were not able to offer me a good enough overall discounted package to convince me to stay so I moved to Virgin. I now have 2 new boxes and fibre broadband, which I didn't have with Sky and would not have got even with all the wangling the Sky customer service person was trying to do.

Good luck with your own haggling :D

That made me sound really lazy :o I am not, it is just that the bus stop is a 20 min walk and the bus ride is 45 mins, just thought I would clear that up :D
