I received an email and successfully applied. Both of us have received our new code numbers and they have been operated by employers.

I then recieved another email with a link to apply for the transfer. I forwarded this to the phishing address as I had already processed the request.

I got a reply telling me the email was genuine.

I have now recieved another email with a link to apply for the transfer. I am just going to ignore this one.

Obviously there is a glitch in the system somewhere.

Thanks for the feedback. So nothing to worry about in this case but better safe than sorry.

Yes but only you, not he, can apply to transfer the allowance to your husband.

My wife gave up work to look after our granddaughter. Can she transfer a portion of her tax free allowance to myself?

As long as you are a basic rate (or non) tax payer yes.
  • Do you need to re apply for this allowance every tax year?

    In a word, No.

    Edit
If you want to cancel the transfer, you can contact <HMRC>.
