Do I have to download new drivers for W10 as both the printer and web cam do not work with W10? - I have tried!! - the printer cannot be found and the web cam mic is enabled all of the time causing audio feedback - a bug?

    Mike.

Try uninstalling both devices (via device manager) and any associated software (via programs and features) for the HP and logitech then let windows install/find it's own drivers.

Leftovers of W7 software could be causing the issue. A lot of the problems people seem to be having is doing upgrades from W7 to W10., old cruft being the suspect.

    Just a FYI.

Over the weekend I've updated a Samsung N145 Plus for a friend.
She hasn't used it for months because it has become so slow.
It still had 1GB ram, and was full of printer drivers, Java and Google updaters wanting to run on boot.
Spent £6 on ebay for 2GB ram.
Clean install of vanilla Win7 Starter, required phone activation. Ran Win 10 Home update from usb, made sure it was activated, then ran a clean install from the usb.
The Intel GMA3150 graphics driver is the only thing missing, but on reboot, it loads from Windows Update.
I've checked and all the other drivers for LAN, wireless etc are more up to date than those from the Samsung site.

TBH, not sure if it wasn't better on Win7 Starter, but they wanted Win 10 to play around with before updating their main laptop.

    Hope the above helps someone.
    Move along, nothing to see.

Still can't get Edge to load. I don't want to use IE or Chrome as I like Edge. Does Edge have the search engine built in? I checked my browser search engines in settings and it only shows the IE ones, ie Norton as default, Google as 2nd. I do have Edge set as my default browser. I used IE up until a week ago with 8.1 but the IE I'm having to use now is ten times slower with windows 10 so really would like to get Edge back.

Anyone else having problems with Avast Free?

Attempting a scan is proving impossible because it slows the system down to such an extent that it's practically unusable and takes forever to complete - we're talking hours.

I read good things about Panda Free - considering switching.

I use Windows Defender, which in Win 10 is effectively Microsoft Security Essentials. It's just there and looks after itself. No particular performance issues noted because of it.

MSE (aka defender) has a very poor detection rate, this review sums it up quite well:

We wouldn't trust our PCs and our data to Security Essentials - and frankly, neither should you.

Well, it works for me - I've never had a virus! :rotfl:
Just kiddin' of course. I do periodically scan with Malwarebytes and don't take what I consider risks. With backups and multiple computers, I'm reasonably comfortable with my setup.
Have upgraded a Win 7 machine with Avast to Win 10 for a friend with no problem and Avast still appears to function.

Think I'm about to give up and go back to 8.1 as now I can't print Myhermes postage labels either as I'm getting Class Not Registered message. Could print perfectly yesterday! Any ideas how to fix that or what it means? Had a quick search on windows 10 site but everythings so complicated.

Just as a follow-up to this, for what it's worth, I've found that Avast will still scan the system in a reasonable time if I close all programs before running the scan. Used not to be necessary to do that (would run happily in the background) but if that's what's needed, so be it.
