Wash your mouth out, bad Pyxis.
(Although when we were strutting our stuff in the display and someone asked if he was up for adoption, I did have to think about it for a moment or two.:rotfl:)

  • Hey! I get first dibs on Gitdog! We need a photo of him posing with his rosette later, please!

Thank you WaS! I appreciate that. :) I'm not doing too bad, but it's starting to get to me a bit more now. :( I'm getting emails off various companies with their Father's Day offers, and in all the shops they have the stuff....which of course is to be expected, but it's hard all the same. I saw loads of cool stuff that I'd have got for him. It'll always be a hard day, but I guess the firsts are always the hardest?

I remember last year in Home Bargains, they had these Super Dad onesies, and my Dad stood behind one so it looked like he was wearing it! Me and my Mam couldn't stop laughing for ages! :rotfl:

We'll be going to where we scattered his ashes on the day, as it's such a beautiful special place to me now.

I think the relationship you have with your teacher friend is very special. I bet you can't wait to see him again?! :)

Hugs WaS and JM too, and to anyone else who needs one!

  • It's a wonderful idea to go to your special place on the day, Georgie. I bet your dad looked amazing pretending to wear the onesie! It is little memories like that will make you smile and and get you through the day. Have another hug, I will be thinking of you and your dad next Sunday. You gave such a lovely description of him that it is easy to imagine you both together.

I am so looking forward to seeing my teacher friend! We only meet every few years but we email every day to check each other are ok. It has been like that for the past 16 years, before that we used to text or write letters. We have always been a big part of each others lives, in many ways he is the family I didn't have biologically. WaSp always says he feels like he is staying with his FIL when we visit because my friend treats me the same as the dad's have treated their daughters in WaSp's past relationships. It is very sweet to hear.

He was just one of those people that everyone liked. So laid back, easy going, kind and very funny!

He did look amazing! :rotfl: It's like the time I got him a Super Dad helium balloon and he stood there holding it in the Superman pose! I've got a lovely photo of that! He loved Father's Day, he was chuffed to bits the year I got him a 'My Dad, My Hero' mug, he used it with pride everyday!

I'm filling up here, because I wish I'd told him that more. But, he'll have known all those things wouldn't he? Actions speak louder than words and all?

Thanks for letting me talk about my dad and my memories. :)

Appreciating all the hugs guys, they're needed today. :)

Georgie, you will have told him! Every laugh you shared, every joke shared, every grin, every card, every present, every little look, every hug, every conversation, every phone call, every walk you shared, all those things would have told him that he was your hero!

He will have known all right! Never fear! :A
