Hi Pyx -( I loved your "flounce" the other day btw - made me giggle no end) - I believe the bbc to be factually correct (in general the media is not allowed to make stuff up) but it is what they imply by omission. Recent example was the case where a daughter managed to get her mums will overturned - which sent many people into a panic. what the news reports failed to report was that the mother had failed to pass on compensation awarded after loss of father and specifically labelled as for the daughter. The news reports implied that children could overturn their parents will's, but that's not the case, it was a specific set of circumstances. The negativity of news astounds me, and I have to remind myself that the news and media only exist due to humans wanting it in the first place - aren't we a weird species? How WE came to rule the planet amazes me!!!
I am currently really enjoying the new series called ZOO where the animals are becoming aware and the humans might not be in charge anymore. It can be a bit gory, so don't watch it if you don't like the gore type stuff, but I think it is a very intelligent concept and well written so far, I like the cast of characters they have which portray differing points of view on the events. I am hoping it stays good and does not get all "silly" as some of these future-istic series do.

Having a reasonable week so far - pointing is now finished and if I didn;t ache so much I would be doing cartwheels in the fort.

Big thanks to Moo coz all the talk about smoothies has got me having a smoothie for breakfast now which is a big step for me as I struggle with breakie. I am having.........spinach, pear, grape, avocado, line and a little yoghurt........sounds eugh right?! The first time I made it I thought "What am I doing - I am gonna hate this" but it is absolutely fine - it is bright green and tastes only of pear - I make a small glass of it so as not to overwhelm myself and get it down me. The big bonus is that it is four portions of fruit and veg first thing and lately I have been lucky if I get five portions a week - so managing to get four a day is wey good for me. I am aware that it is minced up fruit and veg, which is not as good for you as eating them whole and solid - but it is a good step. Waiting for the maca to arrive to try that in it too.

This week I have finally made my courgette, mushroom and bacon pasta dish again - when I lost a lot of weight I used to make a massive bowl of this at the weekend and then have it for lunch every day - as much as I could eat ( and that could be three or four bowls) and I still seemed to lose weight - plus of course it is more veg on a daily basis. Really pleased with myself for finally getting it done as I have been meaning to for the last month but just not got my !!!! into gear.

I have to say - having been stuck in reverse for the last six months, I feel like I have finally found neutral and maybe even first gear again. Big thanks to all you golden twinkly lights for the support and hugs on here which have muchly helped with that process.

    WaS,

I think some of it was just copying/mimicking the kinds of things your mum was doing, especially if it were never talked about so you didn't get the chance to put to into medical perspective of her not being well. Maybe part of the excitement is that you were in control of it even though it hurt.

I say this as littlewing mimics me and other close family in pretty much everything, down to 'oh dear' as she puffs into a chair sometimes (like elderly relatives). She also re-enacts hospital visits etc with her own twist.

You are doing what you have experienced.(Maybe the hereditary side is that you are more likely to get a thrill out of certain activities).

Remind me later that I want to talk about a comment Lionel Ritchie said on Piers Morgan last night. I thought about your dad.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

  • Quick reply to WaS - a friend I was at school with was similar, lovely kind and gentle person who hurt herself in imaginative ways. She now has a schizophrenia diagnosis. I suspect the psychosis was there when we were at school, but it just doesn't seem to be taken so seriously in children and is written off as accidental

My mother didn't exactly self-harm but she did take too much medication or stop taking it on purpose. When she was annoyed with me she would inject herself with extra insulin to cause herself to have an hypoglycaemic episode. Because I knew I would be hated if I took her to hospital I used to deal with it myself by lying on top of her to hold her down (she became aggressive as if she was very drunk) and force glucose into her mouth. She used to do it to my dad, too and then begun with me when I was thirteen. I suppose I may have picked up some of that behaviour when I was a child, too. Good thinking Gemini!

That's reassuring, Dragonette! Thank you, it isn't just me, sometimes knowing that really helps me. It is possible that the chemical imbalance was there from birth and just worsened as I got older. I just scratch my head a bit when doctors tell me I have the thoughts that I do because of psychosis when I know that I always thought this way. It isn't new to when my Schizophrenia officially developed at all.
