I love Halloween so am super excited about being there for it, what's great too is that Christmas arrives shortly after so we get to see 2 lots of decorations in the parks! We haven't got our costumes yet but my Mum and Dad are going over to Florida right now and have promised to go to Hot Topic and buy me an R2D2 dress and a C-3P0 t-shirt for DH and there's a high probability that DS will be Yoda! :rotfl:
    . :)

Yoda is my favourite character! He'll look so cute! Not long to go now, it sounds like you'll have a fabulous time! Love yours and DH's outfits too :D
  • Bless your teacher friend WaS! What a lovely gesture :)

Yay to all the new gadgets! Jelly Bean OS always appeals to me as I love Jelly Beans :)

I wouldn't be without my slow cooker. We love those Schwartz mixes you can buy. I need to try ham in coke, it always sounds delicious! I found this recipe http://www.slowcookerclub.com/recipes/pork/slow-cooker-gammon-in-cola Do you use honey and mustard too code? What do you usually serve it with?

It's pretty easy. I get an onion, chop it in half and chuck it in the cooker. Then I rinse the ham under the tap and bung it on top of the onion. Then I cover it with coke, put the lid on and cook it on low for hours. Then I take it out, smear some black treacle on it, sprinkle brown sugar and mustard powder on it and bung it in a hot oven for 10 minutes. Then serve it with roast potatoes or mash and gravy or on its own with salad. Or in a sandwich. Assuming I can keep it away from DH who just keeps eating bits on its own.

Just had a weird experience of young boys shouting sexual things at me as I walked by.

I had two boys very loudly discussing sex the other day. They were just showing off and I was trying really hard not to laugh because they'd got it so wrong - sex ed clearly completely misunderstood.

Please could I have some inner Barbie help. A relative wants me to accompany him to a black tie do for an award he's won - some university teaching thingy. What do women wear to black tie dos - does it have to be long? Really don't want to fork lots out for something I'll never wear again.

  • Hi all, still reading along.
WaS - thats a really good idea, and very kind of your friend to cover the expense. Its a medical necessity, so no feeling bad! Esp as its also beneficial for WaSP.

*waves to Katy* hope you aren't hugely uncomfortable hon.

Positive vibes to everyone, brain is incredibly not functional atm. In fact, none of me is very functional today. Oh! Good news about 'others', when I was having my emotional freak out last night after the PIP assessment (when did I get so bad I have 6 conditions to go through??), Dragon gave me a hug and lizard gave me some cuddles. Even if we don't converse, they were a great comfort to me.

If in doubt check with debretts

They recommend a smart cocktail dress, either long or short, but not too short. Palazzo cut evening trousers are an option. One should wear tights, carry a smart evening bag, wear an evening coat and jewellery, except tiaras.

Aargh. What's the definition of a cocktail dress? Can the accessories include a jam jar in case of emergencies?

How was the PIP assessment, dragonette? Better than expected, or not sure?

It's a formal evening dress (not a maxi dress), a party dress really.

Do you have any friends the same size who might have something to lend you?

I'd leave the jars at home.

Ok, I have a massive spot the size of a marble on my forehead. Last time this happened it turned into an abscess, required antibiotics and took weeks to go away. Any spot fighting help would be great.
