Little Sod has gas Elsien. Not sure it would help though...
That's my socialising done for the day and everyone survived!
Found out today there is a history of mental illness in my family. A bit annoyed I have only just found out, as each time I see a new professional they always ask if there is family history and I have always said no. I don't know if it would have changed anything, would have been good to know though.
Shouldn't be surprised though as midwife asked at my first appointment if there was a family history of pregnancy related problems and I said no. Found out a month or so ago that actually there is a history of some serious problems.
I'm all for privacy, but sometimes sharing things can help other people, especially if you know something about what they are struggling with.
Moan over!
I do agree people need to talk about it though, can save many problems further down the line if you have a ore complete medical history so i understand why you're feeling annoyed about not knowing things whihc could potentially help you. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Good morning all! I went to bed at 6pm and have woken up now feeling alive again!
I love the penguin, MU! He is gorgeous! Also, thank you so, so much! I tried to send you a pm but your inbox is full. I have such lovely goodies! Big grateful hugs!
I am glad you found out about the mental illness in the family, Katy. Mental Health workers are always very interested in that. I have mental illness on both sides. My mother with Schizophrenia, my grandmother who likely had Narcissistic Personality Disorder and my uncle who was a very depressed alcoholic. One of my grandmothers sisters was severely depressed and spent a lot of her life homeless and working as a prostitute, when not in psychiatric hospitals. On my dad's side he took his life on my 13th birthday, his sister had clinical depression and anorexia that she battled her whole life, her sons had clinical depression one of whom took his life at 27, my dad's mother had severe OCD and anxiety and my dad's, dad was a violent narcissist.
I was always going to genetically and environmentally 'get' something! That is without going into the many hereditary physical illnesses on both sides. This was why my parents were advised not to have children, doctors saw it as a disaster waiting to happen and there wasn't the mental health support available now, back then. There is so much illness that the chances of it being passed down were very high, nevermind the fact that my mother was never well enough physically or mentally to bring up a child.
Just on physical health alone my mother had 7 miscarriages and a stillborn child before me and was told to stop trying. She didn't, not because she wanted a child but because she refused to use contraception. With me she was taken into hospital for the whole of her pregnancy and I was removed 2 months early due to a low heart rate and hypoglycaemia, I wouldn't have lived if she had gone full term. On the mental health side my mother immediately thought that her child had been replaced with 'Devil's Spawn' who had killed her previous children, so I was taken away into a neonatal unit to recover and she wasn't allowed to see me for the first 6 weeks in case she hurt me. It wasn't the best of starts and it didn't get any better! I view it with a kind of dark humour now. My psychotherapist always picked up on that because it meant that there was no initial bonding between us in my first weeks, in fact my mother viewed me as her enemy and would go on to accuse me of being a demon for the rest of her life and I was always very close to my dad. So yes, there are very good reasons why it is useful to tell doctors about known health problems and family history.
I hope you feel better today, Pyxis! big hugs!

Heads gone and I am about to get ready to go in.
Still furious0 -
Deep breaths, Melly. Can you try to list everything in logical points? It might help to see things rationally laid out on paper. I am worried about your physical health with the amount of strain you are under, you can't deal with anything if you make yourself ill. OH needs you to be well when he can't be and so do we! Meant to say oh got me a lovely ring for weddings anniversary0

Aw, how sweet of OH! You do have such a great relationship, makes me feel all soppy. At least things are moving forward for you, although it probably feels as if everything is taking an age. Any chance of you and OH going out for a meal somewhere to celebrate your anniversary one weekend? I bet you could both do with a night out and a few drinks just to enjoy each others company in a stress free environment.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

moo, just a thought, don't suppose there are any friends or family going away soon for a week or weekend who might appreciate house sitters? Just to get a break from the terrorising for a couple of days, but still be able to live your lives?0
