7dw, it really is awful!
I get it in my arms too which I don't even know if that is possible!
The only thing that really helps relieve it for me is to prop my legs up so high in bed that they start to go numb, but that then gives me a headache.
I get it in my arms too, usually in the afternoon(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Right time to finish writing out these ASB booklets.
Fairly sure HA thought they'd jut get this week er no your getting since May0 -
I agree katy, confide in the midwife and your husband if you can. Your hormones will be in overdrive right now as it is so going through this without real life support will be even worse. Mum is just as important as baby!

katy,
If you are like me, you will lash out to stop people piling even more anxiety on top of what you already can't deal with.
Are you planning to breastfeed? The only reason I am asking is because I put a lot of pressure on myself to breastfeed, where in reality it made my postnatal depression a lot worse - partly because milk production is linked to serotonin and my serotonin levels were low (this is me speculating really as you can't get tested as far as I know). Also the tiredness magnified my negative feelings. And my unsuccessful feeding meant DH was up too, worrying about both of us.
If I had bottlefed (after the first three days) we could have settled into a much better routine, which may not have rid me of the anxiety but could have stopped the suicidal thoughts.
I agree to talk openly to the midwife. Just having more awareness of your triggers can help immensely with dealing with things.
I still feel a bit guilty that DH's experience of a new born baby was not a joyful time. He is more chilled out about it: it was what it was.
Good morning everyone.
ETA: Happy hols, JM.
Also, I would almost say that mum is more important than baby. Baby is happy if mum is happy and everyone loves a baby.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

Pyxis - I sprayed coffee all over the screen at your 'gloryhole'! :rotfl: Bless you!
Glad you're feeling better after a good sleep WaS!
Katy - I agree with the others, tell the midwife! If you're uncomfortable about your DH being there can you ask him not to come to the appointment? Or send a message to your MW (I don't know about your area, but mine gave me the mobile numbers of all of the MW team so I could call/text whenever I needed) saying that you want a private chat so could she send him out at some point?
Beyootiful dress Code! Hope it comes back into stick soon!
I had yesterday afternoon off work (an odd half day to take from my allowance!) and went shopping with my Mum and DS. It was a really 'meh' afternoon though. Can't really go into it without sounding like a spoilt brat (which I am TBH!) but the crux of it is that I've got £60 to last me until the 20th August (personal spends rather than the 'family pot', things aren't that bad - although after a £560 car bill last week they're not great!) and Mum couldn't figure out why I wouldn't spend £85 on shoes that I 'need' for work and £40 on a skirt and £35 on a jumper etc. Just a bit of a frustrating afternoon and DS played up which made it worse.

Whitewing - I agree with you that mum is more important to a degree... if Mum isn't happy and rested and feeling good, how can she look after the baby? I didn't try hard enough to breastfeed (couldn't figure it out in hospital and after a night of being woken by nurses every hour to be milked like a cow - or that's how it felt! - which was already after no sleep for 2 days I was beside myself) and I beat myself up about it BUT bottle feeding was the best thing for me and my baby. It meant that DH got up in the night and I got a good stretch of sleep every night and the pressure wasn't all on me, but on us as a team to tackle together. I was very worried about getting PND but taking away the pressure to BF helped me avoid it.Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Does no-one else know the term 'gloryhole' relating to a junk room/cupboard? I've known it as that since childhood, and friends' mothers used the term......it wasn't just me!
Yes, it obviously could be used as an inuendo, but it wasn't till someone yesterday suggested it might mean something else that I googled it.
Another example of a perfectly good word being hijacked for yucky smutty purposes.
God knows what else I've inadvertently been saying!

Edit. Ages ago, on another thread, I mentioned 'Morning Glory' meaning the plant!
That caused a hoot!
