code - may I suggest gently lobbing a small roll of sellotape if you vaguely like him, or launching a thudding great hole punch if you don't!

Katy - the bearded one - I like that! Little sod? pet right?

You guys are all so motivating -thank you - ((hugs)) - I actually managed to clear up the lounge and kitchen.

Well, I'm back, that's that done. Gonna penguin this next part as I don't want to put anyone off as it's just probably me being a right silly sausage, but still, just want to get it off my chest. :)

    PENGUIN

The previous times I've had smears, I can never remember them feeling painful. Uncomfortable maybe if I was tense, but never actually hurting? This time though when she put the speculum in, I was thinking 'that feels abit uncomfortable', then when she opened it up, I was like 'argghhh, ouch that hurt', so she took it out and tried again, same again, but this time she managed to get a swab. Now I'm thinking somethings up because it hurt, and I'm also worrying that she didn't get a good enough swab because it seemed like she rushed it so it could be over and done with, and last time it seemed to take longer. I hate it when people (ie, my Mam and D) catastrophise, but that's exactly what I'm doing now!! I'm convinced the reason it hurt is because there's something wrong. I was really tense though. Obviously about the procedure, but also because I hate being in the doctors or hospital....lord knows I've seen enough of them lately. :( Also, sometimes it's not just being nervous about the procedure, but then having to wait for the results and worrying. Argghhh somebody slap me please!'

    PENGUIN END

I bought myself a treat of 4 packs of love hearts, I love anything fizzy!

Oh, she also weighted me, and I was heavier than I thought I was  Operation lose weight starts right now....well, after the love hearts anyhow! Or else I'm going to be wobbling round his colour run course! :rotfl:

    Penguin reply to Georgie!

I've had issues with my last couple of tests with a bit of pain - as I've gotten older my cervix has tilted a little and that makes it harder to get swabs.

ALSO - not all nurses are great with doing smears, you may simply have been lucky with your practitioners in the past :)

    End penguin! :)

Well done Georgie, at least it is done now for a while.

Don't worry too much, I always have that issue with a particular nurse. I think some are just more skilled than others. I think a lot has to do with how tense the nurse is too!

    Penguin reply to Georgie

I think they've changed to a different type of speculum which might have made a difference.

Also depending on where you are in your cycle, you may not have been as well, erm, lubricated as before or your cervix was closed which means they maybe had to crank it wider.

Also if you were tense, that would have tightened things up a bit.

The noise has ceased now, thankfully. Trying to decide whether to use some of my extra hours to go home early or save them up for an extra holiday.

    Another penguin reply to Georgie!

You may not have thought you were tense, but you may have been, and that could be the reason.

The nurse may have been quicker because she was very experienced.

Also, if the smear is inadequate for a result, you will be recalled. That happened to me once; I think the person taking the smear was inexperienced and there wasn't enough of whatever to give a meaningful result either way, so they took another one. No probs!

    End penguin!

Well done for booking, Code! Now what about the others? MessedUp?

Code, why don't you say exactly that, next time they do it?

Katy, I love the 'escapee' label! Your baby will always be the escapee now! Needs a babygro with arrows all over it! Hahahaha!

Remember that the term is only an average and can vary by four weeks, 2 before and 2 after, sometimes more! As long as baby is the right size and doing well, it won't matter if it's early or late!

Well done Georgie, I'm sure everything is fine and the nurse was just not as gentle as others!

I still need to book mine, the only issue is that my doctor's receptionist is awkward when you book appointments and wants a clear explanation of why you need a double appointment with a nurse... like it's not obvious... and I don't fancy announcing in the office that I need to book a smear test! :p

Katy - maybe your little Escapee needs one of these?! :D
