I'm homeeeeeeeee!
We had so much fun I stayed a second night! We spent a lot of time chatting together with lots of hugs and reminiscing. WaSp even got hugged much to his slight horror!
We went to the zoo at 8am yesterday morning when it was members only until the official opening time at 10am and we were almost the only ones there! I also spent a lot of time in my friends garden, so much so he offered to put a tent up. He has 10 ft fences in his garden and is surrounded by hills in a detached house, no people could see me at all. Now I am very sunburnt but it was worth it!
There was rather hilarious cringeworthy moment when we were out for a drive and we decided to try to go for coffee in an almost empty cafe. I lasted about 2 minutes before panic set in and I said to my friend we have to leave now. He stood up and said I'll pop to the bathroom first and I was hanging onto his arm pulling him in the other direction saying "Nope! Now! Seriously, we have to leave!" in a panicked stage whisper. In the meantime WaSp was ordering coffee and missing all of this. We ended up texting him from the car to tell him where we had gone and WaSp ended up sitting on his own gulping down 3 cups of coffee so we didn't waste the money while I clung to my teacher friend and Sir Pugliet under a blanket.
We still had loads to talk about despite the fact we exchange several emails every day and we have agreed that I will visit every year from now on if not more often. We were both so happy to see each other.
Now my surprise! My teacher friend has the same corneal scarring that I do so we both need lots of eye drops and can't look at computer screens for long without a break due to eye strain. In his living room there was an enormous parcel on the floor. I unwrapped it and it was a 47 inch tv that is internet connected! It came with a keyboard to attach to it and you can use it just like any other computer, it even has a built-in browser. WaSp is thrilled because it is basically a huge tv for him to watch and I am thrilled because it means I can spend longer online without my eyes becoming sore and developing a headache. My teacher friend bought one for himself instead of a usual monitor and said it really helped his eyesight and headaches so he thought I needed one, too! I couldn't believe how sweet and generous that was, he just said he told me that he would look after me when I was 13 and he will never stop doing so.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

possible penguin
the anniversary of my nan's death is coming up and i find this month very hard as my grandad also died in July. When my grandad passed i went to the grave a lot as i felt i could talk to him and it gave me comfort, when my nan died i just shut off. i couldn't go back to the grave and haven't been since she passed in 06 and for all these years i have carried such guilt (also i never got to say goodbye). But i have decided that on Tuesday, i'm going to take some flowers and pay my respects. I think i need to do this so i can have some closure as i have avoided facing my feelings for so long now.
WaS i know death is a topic we're not supposed to discuss and i apologize if any of my penguin is triggering but want you to know it's definitely not your fault, ok?

Awww hugs, MU!
Reply penguin - Don't worry you didn't trigger me at all. I actually spent the last two days with death coming up a lot because my teacher friend was worried I would blame myself when he dies.
So sorry this month is hard for you, I think it will help you to visit and say a little goodbye while you are there. I also think you are being very brave. Please do let us know how it goes if you want to and don't worry about triggering me, you won't.
End penguin
The tv is hilarious because my flat is the size of a shoe box and there is a huge tv now taking up almost one wall. It is so much better to use online though, particularly for forums. I have already noticed that I am not squinting my damaged eye even while reading on here for an hour and it isn't aching at all. I really can't believe he bought this for me, how incredibly thoughtful and generous.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

The regular repost. The thread etiquette will be reposted every ten or so pages.
........:starmod:......................................................................:starmod:.....................
Here is the suggested THREAD ETIQUETTE. By following this etiquette, all posters, whether new or existing, will feel safe, unpressured and respected..
- This is a thread for support. We have discovered some good friends on here, but we promise always to welcome and include new people, and not to be cliquey.
- People may make suggestions to help each other, and might even ask if the suggestions were helpful or have been carried out, but we'll really try not to nag each other or put too much pressure on.
- The normal board rules about sexism, racism, homophobia etc. apply, but if we are careful we should be able to discuss almost anything without breaching board rules - so far we have discussed subjects ranging from child abuse to incontinence!
-If someone thinks that too much pressure is being applied, they can post the trigger word PENGUIN and flag up the fact that they believe there's a potential for someone feeling too nagged to do something. ANYONE could post PENGUIN if they felt there was a danger that suggestions were being enforced too much.
Similarly, if they want to discuss something that might be a trigger for some people, then posting PENGUIN would be a warning that what follows in the whiteout might be a trigger.
- So, if you think something might be a PENGUIN, please post something like the green bit which follows.
"I would like to discuss something to do with [insert subject here], but I am concerned that this might be a trigger for some people. Is everyone OK if I post about that?"
Then, when you post, repost the word PENGUIN above the discussion. Then post the penguiny bit in white! And the phrase END OF PENGUIN when you have finished.
It will look like this. You will be able to see the white text if you highlight it or if you quote it, (so please don't 'quote' a post containing a penguin onto the thread!)
(Harmless example follows here):-
PENGUIN
This is a penguin. A nasty, crotch biting penguin (CBP).
It isn't really! So you can look.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozGTv0hxhpc[/url]
END OF PENGUIN
(NB on a tenth-page repost of the etiquette, you can see these penguiny words because they are white against the green 'quote' background. On a normal post, they will be white against white, and so won't be seen on the thread.)
IMPORTANT: It has been ascertained that some posters to this thread have found that there are certain subjects which act as triggers, precipitating a worsening of their condition.
To protect these posters, you are respectfully requested NOT to discuss these subjects on this thread:-
Religion. (Please note: it is recognised that everyone is entitled to their beliefs, and we respect those beliefs. It is only because of the fact that religion does act as a trigger for some posters, that we exclude it from discussion.)
N.B. Please don't even mention the name of the religion.
The afterlife. The reason for this is explained in this thread by one poster, and there will be others for whom this is a trigger.
We ask and thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
.........:starmod:.....................................................................:starmod:................
It should be pointed out that if anyone is feeling very distressed or close to a crisis, they do not have to worry about what they are posting, or whether it is a penguin for someone else or not. In a crisis situation, just post! We wouldn't want anyone to feel that they couldn't ask for help in case it's a penguin! The penguin thing only applies to a general discussion situation.
- More suggestions please.............We stress that we are suggesting that we AGREE some Thread Etiquette to HELP people who might feel anxious about posting, we are not trying to IMPOSE rules, just relating this to facilitating groups, so that people feel safe and able to participate as fully as they can.
...............Thread Motto...............

Welcome back WaS!! Glad you had a brilliant time! Your friend is an absolute gem, such a kind, thoughtful and generous person! Enjoy your new TV!
MU, I think it'll help you by going to your grans grave, might help to bring closure x x
Eta: I hope anything I've wrote about my Dad (especially my rather long first post) has not been a trigger for anyone? I hope there's been nothing that I should have penguined but didn't, and most importantly, WaS, I hope anything I've said hasn't been a trigger for you?0 -

Glad you had a good time WaS. Your teacher friend sounds lovely.
Calley - no offence meant here and I hope you don't take it as such. You seem like a lovely person and your ex seems to be using you. You deserve to meet a nice person but you won't be able to until you've moved onEu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0
