Small relative. Concert next week. Could be a very long weekend - we haven't identified the tune as yet.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

As a youngster, I played recorder, guitar (acoustic and bass), piano, drums, the cornet and the trumpet. Must have been hell for my neighbours and the million other people who lived in my house. Particularly the trumpet/cornet.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0

I used to play the recorder (got to grade 2!) and the Cello. I know my Mam hated the Cello, not least because she kept on tripping up over it!0

I only did recorder when I was younger.
When I was 40 I treated myself to a saxophone. Well I hired it.
I didn't take any lessons and then sent it back. Wish I had kept it and had lessons now.
Think my meds are making me wake up in the middle of the night !!!!I love it when they say they can cause you to be drowsy and sleep but also on the other hand cause sleeplessness LOL!!!
Sunny here but just another day to me. Loads I could/should do.
I know this is going to sound over the top. But some days I just think I am biding my time until I dieI know thats a horrible thought.
Can't see at the moment I have any skills or anything that is worth anything. I can't see to do relationships. But my ex is messed up but of course it was my fault. Oh well wonder why I got so p1ssed off when I never saw him and there was excuse after excuse. And claims he liked me. Well really, thats why you would never want to spend any time with me.
Just feel I have failed at everything. No relationship,no job, hardly any friends, my family hardly make me feel wanted and loved.
The strange thing is I don't feel really down about these things they just seem to me matter of fact to me at the moment.
I don't know. I do have one thing to look forward to and that a BBQ this evening.
Yours

Calley, I'm sure you have plenty of skills. You just don't recognise them as skills.
Here's a suggestion. Some U3A groups have recorder classes. Recorders come in all shapes and sizes....descant, treble, tenor etc. and are not too expensive.
The U3A isn't just for retired people, it's for anyone not in full-time employment. For about £30-£40 per annum, you can enrol on up to 4 courses, sometimes more.
Why not look see if there is a recorder class in one of your local U3A groups?
If not recorder, what about ukulele? Again, they are not too expensive.
If no U3A classes, there might be other community music classes in your area.
You may find other classes that take your fancy......folk dancing, line dancing, languages etc, local history, all sorts!
Last but not least, there are bound to be several community or U3A choirs around, where you don't need any experience or any talent! And you don't need to be able to read music. And they sing pop songs, etc! Choirs are a great way to meet people, have fun and have exercise! (You'd be amazed at how many muscles singing uses!)
Anyway, some food for thought?(I just lurve spiders!)

Not sure if I mentioned it before. But I am shy and I find it very difficult to go to places I don't know and meet new people.
I have to admit I think even now I use my husband as crutch.
I need to get more confident in my own skills and abilities.

Step one.......research whether there are any recorder/ukulele/dance/anything else classes that take your fancy.
Use google, libraries, local authority adult education. Just look and see what's out there. Open a file on it! This might take a couple of weeks.
Step two........short list anything that 'grabs' you...makes you feel a bit excited!
Step three.......pick the best one. It could be a thing that really excites you, or it could be that it's very conveniently located, or at a time that's very convenient.
That's the hard work done!
Now for the scary bit!
See if you can find the tutor contact tel. no. or email address, and contact him/her to find out things like group size, advice re. instrument etc. and if truly a beginners' class, etc. At the same time, explain that you are very shy and will need help getting over that hurdle.
If they are helpful and reassuring, then you're in!
If they're not that helpful, ditch that idea, and go to the next class on your list.
At this stage, you have not committed to anything! Just done the background work, etc.
Once you have good feelings about it all, give it a go! Yes, that first time will be an ordeal, but perhaps you could try and arrive first, to meet the tutor on your own, and not walk into a roomful of people, but see them arrive in dribs and drabs and be introduced individually. If it's a beginner's class, everyone will be a bit self-conscious and apprehensive, anyway!
Nothing to lose, everything to gain!
If it doesn't work out, try the next thing on the list! No harm done!(I just lurve spiders!)

This is the silly bit.
I can ring up and talk to people in customer services etc that I never have to meet.
But find it difficult with people that I am going to meet.
I know strange.
But will take on board what you have said.
