    Oooh! Asterix!
In the early seventies, I collected all the hardback first editions! (English). Have got all the ones they printed up to Goscinny's death.

    Morning my Lovelies,

    Mixed bag weather wise here.

I am going to penguin something. And unless you like gross then please don't read. As I am truly disgusted at myself.

I cooked a chicken last monday. And not washed up the crock from the slower cooker. its been filled with water with the lid on. Anyway it was starting to smells so chucked out the water out fresh in. I had been leaving the back door open so flies have been getting in. Attracted to that and the sauce pan I cooked some salmon in a couple of days ago. i washed up the lid of the crock a couple of days ago. Today while I was starting to prep my lunch. I looked at the crock and thought whats that white stuff. looked harder and it was moving, tiny little maggots.

I am so disgusted with myself I have put the crock outside on the garden table full with fresh water and a massive dose of bleach. Now I will worry that I have got them on me and in my eye. I know they only eat decayed flesh. but it feels like there is something in my eye.

So that has put me right off of lunch and I have washed my hands numerous times.

I did buy some pretty summer dresses this morning. I am very much hoping. Only cost £3 as I had £15 in love to shop vouchers and to me £18 for two dresses to last the summer is a bargain.

I am also on a push this week to loose some weight. I have had one walk today and going to push myself to go out again for at least once more today. I am out for lunch twice this week. But going to try really hard with walking twice a day at least this week.

lets hope I can get my washing that is on dry later as its jeans and they take an age to dry LOL!!!

Anyway I am so disgusted with myself and thats something I have learned never to do again. Do washing up straight away no matter what!!!!

    Yours

    Calley

    Don't worry, Calley! Stuff happens!
And no harm done, after all!
    Not all that gross either!

Let's face it, in the days before fridges, that used to happen all the time!

I don't think that maggots per se are particularly germy; flies are, because of what they land on, faeces, etc., but not maggots. Put them out for the birds!
One won't have got in your eye. Perhaps you rubbed your eye with a bleachy finger. They're not dangerous to humans.

I once put something in my food recycling bin in the kitchen.....can't remember what, meat or fish that wasn't good, and left the lid opened for a couple of hours. When I went to take the bag out two or three days later, yes, lots if maggots! Taught me to keep the lid closed!

Yes, I learnt the hard way that boys are rubbish at hygiene, too! Penguined for the weak of stomach.

I had a lodger who was a male student. He was supposed to look after my cat and keep it fed for a week while I went away on holiday. I came back to the most dreadful smell. He obviously hadn't changed the catfood all week, and it was now liquid sludge heaving with maggots. I can't tell you how bad it smelt, and the poor cat fell voraciously on some fresh food after I'd cleaned it up.

This same student was the source of a very strange and rather revolting smell in the bathroom, which proved to be his towel, thrown in a corner and left to rot..... NEVER share a house with a teenage boy!

    End of penguin.

    !
I know but I am just disgusted at myself that I let it happen.

And I am no stranger to maggots growing up. So know that what its like. But in my own home I let it get that bad.

On they were teeny tiny little things. Anyway the crock is is outside full of bleach LOL!!!!

Part of my issues is that I think that certain things I do will harm people. I know very stupid. When I went to see a counselor a few weeks ago and I said about not driving as I said I was scared of knocking someone over and and he said have you ever. I said no. But thats the way I am am. Not happy with it.

Yesteday I bumped the wall in the multi-story car park now I believe that the whole thing is going to collapse.

Well, you know, the plus side to being scared of knocking someone over is that it makes you a better driver! Being aware of the capability a car has to harm people only makes you drive much more carefully.

I'd rather be a passenger in your car than in that of a cocky boy racer who thinks he's invincible.

You are very kind. But I don't think that I am that good a driver.

I still do stuff that I should not.

I have been in a car accident many years ago. My husband was driving and we going up a lane and we stopped and the landy coming towards did not and shunted us back 4-5 ft. It was off duty coppers who had been off roading. The air bag went off in my husbands face. He needed a change of underwear after that.

Put me off going up little lanes. I am still weary now.

I really hate country lanes, but will drive round Marble Arch without a second thought! My husband is the dead opposite, although he is a very experienced driver - in fact he used to be an IAM instructor and teach the police how to drive!
