Will be staying in tonight as funds are very low. Have a great weekend folks.LBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/220 -
Quick check in this evening...
Today = SFD number 16
Pay Day :j today!!!
First month of all of my wage being my own. I can remember going back even a year - I never thought I'd get here. For everyone climbing that mountain - you will succeed! Stay determined and just keep putting one foot in front of another and keep the end in sight.
I'd been having some counselling after the hideous time I had with an ex at Christmas - and that finished today too on a really positive high note. So - I'm going to celebrate with a glass of wine and some cuddles from the cat! Hoorah!
Have a lovely evening everyone x

It's the final push Turtles!
Gather yourselves and lets charge together to the end of the month!
So many of us already have lots of notches (SFD's) on our spears and swords. We can do it!
We are all here to help each other and make it through the finish line together! The Charge of the Light Brigade
Half a league, half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!
"Charge for the guns!" he said:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!"
Was there a man dismay'd?
Not tho' the soldier knew
Someone had blunder'd:
Theirs not to make reply,
Theirs not to reason why,
Theirs but to do and die:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Rode the six hundred.
Flash'd all their sabres bare,
Flash'd as they turn'd in air,
Sabring the gunners there,
Charging an army, while
All the world wonder'd:
Plunged in the battery-smoke
Right thro' the line they broke;
Cossack and Russian
Reel'd from the sabre stroke
Shatter'd and sunder'd.
Then they rode back, but not
Not the six hundred.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon behind them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
While horse and hero fell,
They that had fought so well
Came thro' the jaws of Death
Back from the mouth of Hell,
All that was left of them,
Left of six hundred.
When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
All the world wondered.
Honour the charge they made,
Honour the Light Brigade,
Noble six hundred.Feb NST #4

i'm so happy for you abundant. Good things do come, and it's worth the wait. Thrilled to hear the good news about your mortgage thrifty.
Hugs to mothernerd and stewby.
Yesterday was a spendy day for me. I had to do some top-up shopping in preparation for the weekend. Also went out and bought DS2's birthday presents - 3 marble blush angelfish and a new bookcase for his bedroom to house his beloved books and Legos. I was a bit depressed in the morning having just realised how tight July is going to be. I got paid for my new permanent job and I only received basic pay, the enhanced pay for my out of hours shifts won't be paid til next month. Part of me is regretting having given up my locum job due to the significantly reduced pay (one month basic pay is equivalent to my two weeks locum pay). I keep imagining I could fully pay off the Halifax credit card with the extra £2000 but I know I made this decision not only because of the pay but all other factors. I just have to keep reminding myself of that. If after a few weeks, the money side of things is really pulling me down, I can always resign and go back to locuming.
Today, I tried to cheer myself up by getting busy in the kitchen. I made 2 more batches of ice cream coz the hungry hippos scoffed off the three batches I made the other day. There is still enough ingredients to make another batch but I'll leave them for another day. I chopped loads and loads of onions, the house reeks of them. Yesterday I bought a 5-kilo sack of onions for £3 and I sliced and chopped 1/3 of them and bagged into individual portion sizes and placed them in the freezer. I tried this method for the first time in the beginning of May with the purpose of preventing the onions from going off or sprouting. My hubby and I loved having pre-chopped onions in the freezer ready to use when cooking especially after coming from work. It saves a lot of time and effort and none of my onion got wasted. I also cooked taro leaves in coconut milk to take to my friend's house tomorrow for a potluck meal. 2 batches of laundry done and aired and dried and put away. Hubby has assembled the bookcase and is now in DS2's room.
Oh and today was NSD number 18!

Thanks for the boost shyspender, great post.
The only girl, try to remember all the reasons you took a permanent post - security, holiday pay, being able to stay with your team - I'm sure there are more! The stress of not having those before will fade away over time, and the financial worries will seem bigger, so try and hold onto the knowledge of how much stress was lifted from your shoulders when you changed job, so you can measure it up fairly against the current stresses.
Enjoy putting your feet up in the meantime
Have perked up since mid-week. Put about £300 in expenses claims in. Should get the expenses paid next month and they cover the blown petrol budget this month from working away.
Got £100 cashback cheque from Plusnet for switching to them this month so that's gone straight in the bank! Was a deal through MSE and means my phone and broadband this year will work out at £7.50/mth all in :money:I do love this site.
Went for a meal at Browns last night and it wasn't great - they knocked us off a round of drinks but as I'm the third member of my family to end up disappointed there, I wont be going again!
Off to do some batch cooking with a glass of wine - want to get the stores down! Hugs to all xNST September: SFD 17/20, food £62.87/£60, travel £61.55/£40, Outings £39.80/£100, Allotment £7.17/£30 Other: £42.32, Meditation ?/30.

Shy Spender- having just watched the incredible Danish 1864 that poem is very poignant. Seeing those poor soldiers on the field of battle.....One of the most beautifully shot productions of all time. Am sure you were thinking more of the bravery and motivation of the poem but that's where my mind went" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Evening turtles! Thought today was going to be a spendy day because I was going for tea with my[STRIKE] rather racist[/STRIKE] lovely in-laws, but they paid for the meal, so didn't end up spending anything! Also feeling pretty good as I got a salad when everyone else had pizza, and I don't feel deprived or uncomfortably full, as I know I would have done
I love the Charge of the Light Brigade, really nice poem.
Tomorrow is going to be sleeping and batch cooking for July - I have all my recipes lined up and am hoping to get all the food for £50, but this may be optimistic!Bought my first house in 2014 - now, to be mortgage free!

Quite a good day. Thought I should make more of an effort so have cooked onion soup and curried rice salad, grated cheese and mixed with onions (chopped up the sprouty tops) yoghurt and a little mayo for sandwiches. Some cheese saved for cheese sauce and the rest of the bread has been frozen in two slice packs (worried about things going off quickly in this weather).
Cleaned bits of the house, done a little weeding and finally put all the washing out on the line (it can stay out until it gets dry). I can now say that I can do stairs, going up and down even though I was creaky today.
Thanks for the encouraging words about mum and her partner. I don't know where I go from here, after two years of talking mum has ended back where she started - I have gone through all the reasons why she should not be where she is, mainly the distance from hospitals, doctors and shops (if I have to do the shopping, which I am not at the moment) and difficulties in getting an ambulance to them in an emergency. Now she has just ignored everything we have agreed on. Trying not to stress out (will talk to her cousin as she usually backs me up).
Today I am grateful for quirky links, good music and fond memories (was watching an old episode of QI, which mentioned Kersall and have been following some comical and anarchic music links). My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Afternoon everyone!
Really nice reading everyones' posts...
thriftylass - I may be coming to you for mortgage advice in a few years time when I've saved up a deposit for one!
mothernerd - any chance of your recipe for onion soup - i'd love to know how to make it
theonlygirl - great idea about the onions - can you do it for other veg? I'm really bad for buying things like carrots and then having them shrivel up in the fridge through neglect!
shyspender - thanks for the encouragement - hanging in there to hit 20 SFDs!!!
academiablues - 3D dinosaurs were awesome - is a great film
Good day here... Sorting out my finances... Managed to stash £500 into my Emergency Fund - going to aim for another £500 in the next few months. Going to keep the credit card and use it every month for small buys, then pay it off in full - hopefully to build a better credit rating...
Even though my debts are cleared - I got turned down for a bank account (current) with TSB... it could be because I have moved address twice in the last few months - but I've been with my current bank and employer for donkey's years, and I wasn't even applying for an overdraught. It had a really good interest rate (5%) on balances up to £2K, so am a bit miffed. I'm with N*twest and their interest rates/savings accounts/ISA rates are pretty low by comparison... Thinking I might get a statutory credit report (£2 each I think) to check all my info is correct...
Have a good day peeps x
