Thanks Skinny, looks like I will have to get new roof sooner rather than later, really more worried about getting good, decent and honest contractor. Sorry to read you have been poorly, always seems to happen when slightly run down, remember moving house is up there in the top stressful events, even though a happy occasion, you can so easily forget to look after yourself. Hope you are feeling better soon xx0

Had to deduct £50 from my mortgage savings this morning
...I love the rain but unfortunately water coming through roofing above bay window just wouldn't wait any longer, my window cleaner/roofer has replaced a couple of broken tiles costing me £50. Not bad really shouldn't complain, at-least the leak has stopped

Oh Nooooo…. crazy money melt down over the weekend. Began Saturday with the intention of a quick look in Farmy foods, walked out with 2 bags full of frozen food on top of my regular shop, £16 spend . Didn’t stop there I’m afraid, then carried on with a visit to Aldys after seeing advertisements for spring onions, lettuces, leaks, cucumbers and other goodies all at only 29p each. Walked in with the total strict intention of buying these items only. Walked out purse another £28 lighter, this did include a £15 spend on an electric blender “healthy fruit smoothies planned” and a £2 bargain on a very nice pastel blue tin opener “didn’t really need …liked the colour” bad, bad, bad….
Then evening comes and DS walks in with a very chirpy, very cute but very squashed little 12 week old budgie in a very tiny cage….Albert! A new addition to the family. DS or Dr Dolittle as I call him looking at me with his big blue eyes and as usual I haven’t had the heart to say No, especially after the xmas we had with OH, I felt he deserved a nice little pet for his room. So now we have Albert! A new addition to the family and very noisy, but a lot less messy and trouble than OH I must admit. DS had £15 towards decent size cage but nothing more so after going through gummytree and Teabay finally found one including food, toys, millet etc for £30….so there you have it another £15 spend from oneself
Moving onto Sunday…. met DMama paid for cafe, then gave her little treat, then bought DS pair jeans were reduced from £18 to £5 so good bargain but should have resisted really. Then bought myself beautiful jumper in sale again £5 reduced again from £18, first new clothing buy for myself in gosh knows how long…..still should have resisted:eek:. Would have saved a grand total of £80.00 if I had stayed in the house and locked myself in the cupboard under the stairs till Monday lol. Also now I have a very jealous doggy my Molly moo staring at Albert like dinner is about to be served.
To make amends and claw back this cash the plan is to empty my chest freezer & kitchen freezer and meal plan for the next 2-3-4 weeks saving me atleast £120 in frozen food. Already done a stock take on my overflowing kitchen cupboards, amazed at what I found there, sauces, tinned etc. Hopefully will only have to make future spends on chilled, salad, milk, butter etc……So we will see how this plan goes….watch this space lol
Oh and a no spend day planned today promise!!0 -
…OH has just admitted this morning he hasn't paid some business invoices which I believed were covered over the Xmas period
. It has been very quiet as regards to work this time of the year, as it is every year but I have a good idea what has happened to the money and were the shortfall has gone over Xmas, not that he will admit it himself. I am now trying to add up the damage and the needed cash will have to come out of the mortgage savings I have saved. I feel like I am going backwards, especially as my DSis will also be expecting her loan soon, again coming out of my mortgage pot.
I had taken my eye off the ball over Xmas and before then due to all the stress.
I have phoned some of the merchants for up to date accounts balance and paid £446 so far.
I have taken back full control of the business accounts and the bank cards and OH will not be getting his bank card back. I have also taken his cheque book/cash float of £200 from the money he had left in the house, so at least I am showing some strength. I feel I am more like his mother than his partner.
I will have to update my Mortgage money later as mentally I don’t want to face the full amount I will have to deduct from my savings today.
I am angry with OH, but not surprised, this is not the first time this has happened and I should have learnt from it, so angry with myself also
My bingo night tonight and do I need it !!0 -
Here goes!! deduction of £500 needed approx, this should repair the damage and unpaid invoices.
Today, disheartening.... Mortgage will be back under £68,000 mark once again.................:(:(

Yep so very true Skinny, relieved that I nipped it in the bud just in time…..
Have taken just over £400 from mortgage savings coupled with some overtime I had planned to add into savings this week should straighten finances out, still bit gutted but cant change what is done, only move on and learn from it.
Also paid £15 into CC now under 5,000 for first time ever.... so nice achievement, :T
Right moving on from the past few days, I have done a stock take on my freezer and wow what a lot of food, totally determined to make it last as long as possible and save, save, save:D

Two house cleans booked for today, then appointment at my bank.... so busy day, extra cash will come in handy.
OH seems to be struggling getting back into a work routine since Xmas and I am getting to boiling point with him . He also is now aware of some of my savings after I stupidly left some documentation lying around the house " account with just below 10,000" . Again eye taken off the ball, this is so draining. I have told him it is not going to be wasted, it is money for our future, for emergencies, which at the time he seemed happy about. Now I feel he is under the impression he doesn't have to work to hard or look for work as we now have this cash if needed. the plan is to place this money into a 3 year bond, any account were as the money cannot be got at.
Will be definitely calling into bank today to get something set up0
