Good morning all. I haven't managed to catch up with the thread yet.
Benn a busy few days here, But don't seem to of actually managed anything. Saturday was spent trying to paint our bedroom. We had a huge tin of value paint to slap on but it was awful and watery. It's had 3 coats and the walls still a light green colour (we swapped with the boys so it was ben 10 green) I'm dreading doing the other walls as they are dark red, I think we might end up with a pink and mint green bedroom, lol.
Sunday was a quick clean up and then had my nephews while my sister took her other half to a&e after he broke his hand. Monday I was really down and was pretty much a lazy day.
Yesterday was spent sorting the conservatory (dh warehouse/storeroom) the in the garden, The grass is no longer 3 foot high. Still a massive amount to do out there though.

Today DH has gone to warehouse with DD1 and ive fed and dressed the others. I'm going to send them out to play and have a massive go at the list, starting with the bathroom and working down. I really should get dressed first though.

3 loads of washing on line - DS adhered to yesterdays request to clear his floor - and I have washed towels, too. Bathroom cleaned last night.
very quiet here; have put a jacket spud in the oven for my lunch; not sure when DS will be back. Dentist this afternoon (at 2:30 lol). Just flung two unused energy saver plugs. One may have been recalled and the other was a replacement. This was so long ago I forget which was which so I have flung both:o

Minimal flying here, I've washed up, washed DS3's blazer and tie and done a bit in the garden.

DS2 has a uni exam this afternoon
DS1 on his threatening to leave his job routine oh and moving out, think I'll strongly encourage the later!
DS3 is bored so I need to see if I can take him somewhere or do something with him this afternoon

Mum staying in hospital, op was cancelled yesterday due to bloods being wrong.

Like you dawnrose I'm feeling a tad stressed! Time for a cuppa and to sort out some lunch for DS3.

FFP whatever you are making for the cake stall will be lovely and aprechatied I just got it into my head I wanted to try making those. Made 18 got up this morning after having 1 each last night for afters, left the boys gaming for an hour after we'd gone bed came down to a plate with only 6 left on it so they def take longer to make than eat!
Going to try the tray bake JTTOU suggested and there's a sticky stout and ginger one I fancy trying from the weekend mags (shame it only takes 150ml of stout, it means I'll be forced to drink the rest to save wasting it;))
So far have phoned a friend as she needed to get stuff off her chest and have someone to talk to, cleared shelf, sorted photos, despatched ds2 off to half term science catch up at school, made a start on bathroom, wiped cooker down and put jacket pots in for dinner.

Going to grab a coffee then carry on with bathroom.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
Afternoon all. Can I sneak back into the Flylady fold, please? I've been feeling really 'off' and lacking in motivation for the past few weeks, but I think the higher dosage of meds my GP recommended are finally kicking in as I woke up this morning feeling unusually keen to actually do something. Admittedly so far my 'doing' has amounted to no more than making a list of things I want to do, but it's a start!

mrs-moneypenny - any chance of the recipe for that stout and ginger cake, please? My pub quiz team keeps winning bottles of the stuff and no-one drinks it so I end up with it for cooking; in the winter it's good for stews but I've been stuck with what to do with it in warmer weather, and I think you might just have cracked it. :D
Back after a very long break!

CCP. This is the recipie from the mail on Sunday you magazine, I'm sure Any type of stout would work equally well
Ive had a read through and don't think there are any typos or auto corrects but if there are in sure someone will let us know.:D

    Sticky stout & ginger cake
    Makes 1 traybake

    Cake.
    150ml (5floz) Guinness
    175g (6oz) dark muscovado sugar
    1/2 tsp bicarbonate of soda
200 grms (7oz) SR flour sifted
    2tsp ground ginger
    2 large eggs
    100grms (3 1/2 oz golden caster sugar
    125ml (41/2 oz) rapeseed oil

    Icing
    150g (5oz) icing sugar sifted
    1 tbsp lemon juice
    1 tbsp smooth orange juice
A title yellow food colouring paste or liquid (optional)

Prepare nonstick tray bake tin measuring about 9in X 12in and 1 1/2in deep. Oil tin and line base with baking paper.
Put Guinness and muscovado sugar in saucepan slowly bring to boil stiring with wooden spoon to remove any lumps from the sugar, remove from heat and stir in bicarbonate of soda.
Leave to cool for 20 mins.
    Preheat oven to 180c/160c fan/ gas 4
Sift flour and ginger in a bowl
Whisk together the eggs caster sugar and oil in another bowl. Add this to the flour add ginger while stirring.
Add the cooled Guinness mixture in two lots stirring until smooth.
Pour into prepared tin and bake for 25-30 mins until risen and firm to the touch
Run a knife around the be then leave to cool.
Turn out of tin peel off the baking paper and place the right way up on another piece of baking paper.
Whisk the ingredients for the icing together in a bowl, colouring it in two different shades of yellow if desired.
Trickle this "Jackson pollock" style over the cake- you may not need a lot to do this. Leave the icing to cool for an hour or two before cutting into bars or squares. The cake will keep well covered loosely for several days*

*not in my house if the boys find it.
Off to look for Jackson pollock paintings to see how to ice the cake;)it at looks like common or garden drizzle to me.
