Prawns behind a radiator, taking the light bulbs are annoyances, someone would have to be seriously messed up to deliberately cause a gas leak.
Just turning a light on could be all the spark needed to cause ignition.
If I even suspected that they had done this deliberately I would be very careful in testing everything fires, boilers, lights etc.0
