I suspect if there was no move at all, we'd have heard about it so as said above.., no news is probably good news.

    Hoping so anyway.

Our last house purchase, (we knew we couldn't move in as we needed to do so much work) was iirc completed at 11am and we were called to collect keys at 2pm.
Even knowing that nothing was in the house (probate sale) we changed locks same day. We both came up, I was left to wander about and meet any stray/nosy neighbours and OH took old locks out, went to a locksmith place, returned and fitted new. Took him half hour for removing old and fitting front door euro lock, took him around another hour to do back door mortice lock.
Cant stress enough to change locks soonest. We found out later that the previous owner had carers and multiple family all of whom could well have had keys, and the neighbour handed there set of keys to us saying they probably no use now.

We just changed the doors :)

We recently completed on our bungalow purchase (no chain). We had the phone call to say completion had taken place, arranged to meet the vendor at the property (which was empty, it was a probate sale), she said they hadn't yet got the money but gave us the keys anyway.

As this was on April 20th and we have heard nothing else, I assume she now has it.:rotfl::rotfl:

Good luck OP, in your new home x

Sorry for the delay in update, as I'm sure you can imagine it's been a bit hectic and stressful!
Well, the solicitors and EA continued to be useless so OH rang up in the morning and was told it had completed and was told again to go to the house to collect "some" keys at 3:30.
He was stuck at work but a couple of people at his work had driven past at different times and said they'd seen vans and activity and OH drove past in his lunchbreak with a friend (in case he felt the need to stop... for backup), and it was clear that although the sellers weren't finished, they were definitely on the move as it was a hive of activity.
He went down at 3:30 and fortunately the seller was there, threw a set of keys at him and drove off with his mate on another run after a quick rant. OH went in and found most of the house empty with another couple of runs worth of stuff left in a room and garage. He made a judgement call... and I think it was the right one. We didn't want the place trashing so he left them to it (he only had a ten minute break which his boss had stretched to 20 mins anyway).
We did other essential stuff when he finished work and he went down at 9pm and saw vans on the drive so parked a short way away and watched. Within ten minutes they'd gone so he went in and found the remaining keys waiting for him where they'd been pushed through the letterbox. (He got a text to tell him that half an hour later) The house was empty.
This morning we were there first thing and changed the locks.
The place is grubby but not trashed. There's some rubbish left behind including some large items in the garden but overall there's not a large amount.
That said, they have stripped out every little last thing they could (and some they shouldn't have). All the things they'd said they'd leave for us have gone, except the ones specifically named in the contract (we'll be checking that carefully). The fridge freezer they'd agreed to leave (that was in the contract) is broken... what a coincidence!
The house should have been ready to move into but now needs work... for example they were supposed to be leaving TV brackets in all the rooms but they've ripped them out so there are holes in all the walls.
The biggest problem we have is a gas leak. I noticed it as soon as we walked in this morning. We've turned the gas off at the meter for now. Who knows whether it's deliberate or whether they've hit a pipe when moving.
Oh, and they'd left the immersion heater on *sighs*
We're lucky to have a couple of weeks left in our rented place... if we'd been relying on moving in that day, or even this weekend, we'd be in serious trouble now.
Today we've had friends and family in helping us, we're lucky to have good people around us.
We don't know a gas engineer though, we're a bit lost as to what to do next on that, I guess there's a bill coming our way :(

Thankyou so much to everyone who posted help and advice, we really appreciate it. Sorry again for the late update... I'm not sure where the last 48 hours or so have gone!
