Welcome to the newbies & Happy Birthday to Csarina
Never let success go to your head, never let failure go to your heart.0 -
Hello Oldstylers! Haven't had much time to post lately, but I do try to read the thread most days.
Sorry to come on & whinge, but I just need to vent, and I know this a sympathetic virtual ear................
My MIL is here and she's doing my head in   I know she's trying to be helpful, but when I say I don't want her to help in the kitchen I mean it. She just tried to wash up the lunchtime pasta pan in the sink with all the dirty starchy water that it had been drained intoI've retreated to my office on the pretence of having work to do just to get out of the way  I know there are worse MIL's out there, and it may seem insignificant but her constant "wanting to help" drives me crazy. My kitchen = my domain!
Phew, sorry, thanks for listening.
Thinking of you JackieO, if you're reading.
Happy birthday Csarina, have a good one.
PP, hope you're feeling better
Hugs to all, especially all those MiLs from hell out there (*cough* AussieLass)

OK decided what I'm going to do with my blackberries; just made some sourdough muffins with them; and then I'm going to attempt a low-fat yogurt blackberry frozen cheesecake! I'll let you know how it turns out.0

Morning all,
Glad to hear that you are now having hot showers Churchmouse.
Happy birthday Csarina:bdaycake: make the most of the day...only happens once a year!
JackieO.....thinking of you.
PenPin....hope that you are feeling better.
Everyone else, hugs.
Sunny here to-day, still very windy but hoping that OH will get back to his woodworking....still have to find stuff to fill the boxes with and then get rid of all those plastic pots...not really just relegate them to the back and loft steps for vegetable use.
15.39
Distracted and didn't post above...OH wanted me to go shopping with him and ended up buying me a lovely cappucino in our nearest deli/restaurant...I had had breakfast but he rarely eats before noon and had goats cheese ciabatta which was expensive but very nice...I had to taste it didn't I?? Food is expensive but very fresh and tasty.
Really must do some work at this stage...off to Roscommon to-morrow for my aunt's birthday party but will come home to-morrow night...looking forward to seeing all the cousins I normally only meet at funerals.

Welcome REDRUBY! - we're all slightly batty but I know you'll like it here!
FROGGA - please don't hate yourself; you have definitely found friends here.
OMG ODDSNSODS - you lucky thing! Should you get a chance to take a photo of him......! I suppose he's gone now (or been hidden in the cupboard under the stairs to play with later?!)
LUCIE - Poor you with your MIL - it must be really difficult for you to hold your tongue. Is she staying long?
Well, DH is definitely on his way home from France so last night of peace and quiet for me. He's catching the late ferry and should be here at about 8 o'clock in the morning which, luckily, doesn't mess the day up. I've made some cakes and the house is all clean, tidy and organised so I think I'll give myself a makeover tonight in his honour! Don't want him coming home and wanting to go straight back out again!
The weather has been beautiful but I've spend most of the day pottering about indoors; I sat out for ten minutes but it got too hot for me (gone are the days when I could sit in it for hours and hours), so I came in and had a lovely doze on the sofa.
Well, I think I'll wash the kitchen floor now - can't leave it any longer!
See you all later.

Lucie...can I say as a MIL that it one feels very lazy in DIL's kitchen and admire you young people who seem to have so much on that we would like to take a little off your shoulders while we are around...my DDIL1 and I have a 'treaty' worked out...when I am in Holland visiting I cook one day in 3 and clear up the other days. Would like to compliment you on your sense in taking off to your office...even if you will have to wash the pasta pot again!
Welcome to the newbies...you will like it here I am sure and Frogga, you will regain your self esteem if you listen to the advise offered...you're really not as bad as you think, we all have off days...can sympathise with the weight, I was born overweight 62 years ago and have struggled ever since, the only twice I was my correct weight was 1) when I had to cycle 25 miles a day for six weeks during a bus strike and 2) after the birth of DD1 as I had been sick all through and only put on 4 pounds during pregnancy! Being fat doesn't make anyone a bad person, honestly!
Hugs to all

Hi guys, just popped back to say hello again, feel like a peeping tom after being caught out for reading the thread everyday and not posting (tried to insert embarrasment logo:couldn't). Had ds210 to doctors today he has never been dry at night and often has problems during the day with needing a pee urgently, anyway she has referrred him to the urologist she thinks he has a problem with his plumbing, bless him he was really embarrased, what a bad mother i am for leaving it so long. We've just had our tea early as my kids keep saying there starving, i just can't seem to keep up with them atm. It was lovely chicken, new pots, and broccoli, followed by mint coc chip ice cream. Lucie, i have the mil from hell, long story we don't speak now and i've promised myself i will not be like her when my son's marry!! Anyway off to walk the dog and do the dishes. Bye for now SharronSometimes your the dog, and sometimes your the lampost..:p0
