PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Just thought i would share my barclaycard success.
sent original SAR request in April had the details within 40 days, however the copies of statements did not arrive 1 phone call got them within a week of requesting.
i worked out PPI paid plus the 8% interest should entitle me to £610ish refund so sent a letter requesting this, today i have received all the details of barclaycards investigation stating there is insufficent evidence to prove the PPI was sold in accordance with the guidelines.£676 is now getting refunded on to my card as a result.
thanks to all that helped with my advice requests, now on to Capital one and HFC.0 -
Well Done!!!! Good luck with the rest :T0

unfortunately the way the Tax system works anyone who gets the 8% awarded is liable for tax on this at their normal rate, so if standard rate tax payer its standard rate and if higher rate tax payer you are liable for the higher 40% rate.
this is because its classed as additional income just like any other interest you get from a bank.
there is a section on this within the HMRC website, if i can find it again i'll post the link.
this is of course providing you declare it, if you don't it is a risk you take as they could come knocking at a later date.
i understand some lenders are deducting this at source and passing to the tax man, others are not. if they are nt they are stating on their letters that the interest is taxable to cover themselves.
i hope this helps, even though it does seem unfair.
Mighty unfair, that is for sure.
Thanks again for the clarification.0 -

Hi Sue, sometimes with Lloyds we have to keep on at them, a few of us have had to and have emailed them and copied them to the CEO.;)

Ask them when should you expect the refund to be paid into your account, they may give you a rough idea, fingers crossed.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hi,
Just wondering if you could advise me on Barclaycard? I have very recently submitted claims for a N Rock loan, 2 x MBNA credit cards and a Comet stores card as the PPI was quoted on the ststements. However there isnt any PPI quoted on my Barclaycard statement, would this mean there is no PPI on the card????
