Another success for me.... Submitted a claim for mis-sold PPI on a flexible loan I was talked into having by a very pushy HFC employee in 2002. Paid the whole thing off two years later and didn't have any info. Sent off SAR info in March and then a letter requesting a refund (I estimated around £500). On Saturday morning I received a letter, not admitting liability but offering me a full and final payment of £1653.31! Have been in a VERY good mood all weekend!

Brilliant, well done and Congratulations! :T:beer::j

What reclaiming: PPI on 2 loans, one being a top up
    Who was provider: Egg
    How much back: £1750.19
    How reclaimed: one phone call

Called Egg on 7th May and requested information on two loans that are now finished. Mentioned I would be contacting Egg re misselling PPI as when I took out loans I already had adequate insurance through work and also in separate policies

Lady advised me that they would acknowledge complaint in 5 working days. Letter was received by me on 11th May advising that they were looking into complaint.

I received a letter today confirming a refund of £1750.19. Just need to send the acceptance to them and i should have my money on about 2 wks. No admission of guilt on their part, but to be honest I don't care.

So pleased, one phone call. I genuinely thought i'd have a fight on my hands and didn't expect to get anything.

Thank you all, thank you so much.

I'll keep you posted on the others I have in process with other CC co's.

Anyone reading this and still wondering whether or not to pursue any PPI, stop thinking and make a phone call and get the ball rolling.

    Lots and lots of Love,

    LL xx

PS I'm still on cloud nine, this must be what it's like to win the lottery!

  • I have just opened my post and to my absolute delight I have recieved a letter from Loans.co.uk offering me their settlement payment in respect of a mis-sold PPI policy - the grand sum of £2017.55.

I started the process of reclaiming this money in August 2009 after reading the information on this website. I used Martin's templates at each stage and it worked. I didn't even need to go to the Ombudsman.

Thank you Martin. I wouldn't have been able to do this without your help and to all of you who are thinking about claiming - get on and do it, or if you are still somewhere in the process - don't give up and be tenacious.

    Hi there

First of all well done

As it was an offer, it seems they have not actually upheld and accepted liability of mis selling (which is why they gave you an offer instead).

So in this case the 8% is not always included.

You can just query it by a quick call, but tell them your making your mind up on your decision of accepting it or not (so this should not jeopordise their offer, as its only a general query).
However, its entirely up to you of course.
    Good luck.;)

I contacted RBS and asked for advice about whether 8% interest was included in the offer and received an emphatic "the bank don't pay 8% interest". So that answered that one, just waiting for the cheque now. Thanks for all the helpful posts on this site.

My experience with RBS and Egg is that they don't pay the 8% statutory interest unless it is a complaint being settled via the FOS.

    Well done anyway!!

I'm just glad that we didn't have to take the complaint to the FSO so am happy to forgoe the interest.

    Success and failure today.

8 weeks to the day and just had a reply back from Barclaycard, they are going to pay me back 2590.00 which will now leave me only 1500 left hurray. However, argos (letter in the same post) have sent a definate NO.

Just waiting now for Lloyds TSB credit card - somehow they cant find my paperwork in archives.

Since reading this site and sending off my letters in February I have received the following:

    Liverpool Victoria 950.00
    Lloyds x 2 loans 7600.00
    HFC x 2 loans 2900.00
    Barclays 2590.00

Debt free now in one year instead of 6, I can now sleep at nights.
