    sorry for my ignorance.
but how far back can you go with reclaiming ppi.
as ive had a few loans over the years .

    thanks

    jusy a quick edit
i have all details of loans and the ppi amount
how do i add interest to this ,is there a calculator just like for bank charges?
  • We used Martin's template letters, after having a loan for £12000 with Barclays, payable over 7 years, which included PPI. We paid the loan off in full after 4 years.

They rejected the first and second requests, sending information about complaining to the Ombudsman, which we duly did.

It took several months for the Ombudsman to process our claim, which was because they were awaiting the result of the test case.

We are delighted to say that we received a letter from the Ombudsman last week, stating that Barlcays had agreed that the PPI payment had been mis-sold and agreed to repay the PPI payments in full, including interest.

Today we received a payment directly into our bank from Barclays for £3300!!! Brilliant. Thanks Martin. You're welcome for a drink any time!

i took out a loan with Egg in June 2005, when applying for the loan the guy on the phone insisted that i had to take out the PPI or i would not get it, when the loan agreement came through for me to sign the box was already ticked and the total repayments already calculated and added on. The PPI was about £16 a month, over what would of been about 53 months. I remember thinking at the time that the PPI meant that i would be paying back around £1000 on top of the interest but i needed the loan to consolidate my all my debts and felt i simply had no choice.

After reading this article i filled out the template letter and sent it recorded delivery to Egg, it must of taken all of 5 minutes. I did my sums and had an idea of how much i would be due back should the claim be upheld. Well 8 weeks to the date (i think this is an Egg customer service policy) i checked my loan details online to see that the PPI has been cancelled and insted of sending me a refund, my loan will now be paid off 6 months early. I thought i was going to be paying it off till January next year and it will now finish on the 01 July next year.

Please please take the time to read the article and send off the letter, it really works!!!

Well done to all that have succeeded in their cases, brilliant news, which proves hope for others.;) .

And for the ones who have not won their claims, please remember there are lots of ways around trying to pursue these, so don't give up.

I won a biggish claim before Christmas against Nemo, and another 2 months ago against Liverpool Victoria, and now getting on with more.

I have come to a halt with one right now who were not regulated where the FOS will not look at this but trying other ways like using their linked groups such as HFC and HSBC groups to claim the mis sold PPI on these who were regulated.

If no success I'm not going to give up, if it means court I will go this direction but for now I am trying other ways until all actions are exhausted.;)
I recommend you do this too, so the very best of luck to all going through a bad time of it at the moment.;)

    Everything crossed here.

    Hi Everyone,
Following a succes with Lloyds tsb some months back have just heard from the FOS who have upheld two claims I have with them- one against the Halifax and one against Sainsburys bank- got the full PPI plus 8%! Am very happy- haven't worked out how much that is but will keep you posted when I hear. I got those acceptance forms back to the FOS pretty quick I can tell you!

Anyway, good luck to all and here's hoping you get the outcome you want too- I've one more to hear about so hopefully I can make that success number four!
Cheers too to the saint that is Martin!

    well done. :j

    Hi guys

Just another Halifax success story for you.

Complaint for mis-sold PPI sent to Halifax in November. Halifax reply saying it wasn't mis-sold blah blah blah.
Letter then sent to FOS, who kept me updated about once a month.
Letter from FOS on 26 June, saying that HBOS say they are not in the wrong, but will refund all PPI payments + 8% "as a gesture of goodwill"

    $ucce$$!!!:D

Hi there, new to this for posting comments but have been watching these forums for months/years.

I have had a number of loans and credit cards (too many) over last few years, some in my name only and some with my wife. I was self employed and my wife has had diabetes since she was 6. I have written to all the companies using the templates and thought i would share the successes with you to give other people hope:

First Direct Loans and Credit Card - I received a rejection letter initially from FD and they quoted to me the Limitation Act ruling and directed me to FOS. So I did as they asked and completetd the FOS forms. After waiting since February, I received a letter from FOS yesterdya stating that FD (HSBC) have decided they will uphold my claim and will contact me when they have calculated compensation. I think this will give hope to some people that have been put off by the Limitation ruling previously.

Bank of Scotland Loan - Letter from BOS beginning of June stating that they could not confirm how my loan was sold to me due to lack of evidence, so they will have to uphold. I am still awaiting an offer mind you!

Gateway Finance - Car Loan - I only had the loan for 1 year and sent templete letter. Initially got a rejection, but then went back to them again and they sent a cheque for £396.00, no argument.

Style Store Card - only taken in 2006 with a limit of £450, but sent letter to them in February and the PPi was placed back onto my account with no argument.

Now to the not so good:

Black Horse Loans taken over a number of years, last one in January 2002. Have had reject letetrs from them and have therefore decided to take court action. I received the Black Horse defence on Monday and looks like this one is going all the way. The above loans were in my name, however, the black horse is joint names and as stated above, my wife has been diabetic for a long time. They have again stated the limitation act in their defence document. I will keep you updated as to how this goes, but I am not too confident.

Hi all. Just wanted to let you all know that following my court hearing on Tuesday, i waited from 9.30 until 12.30 before seeing the judge and despite him being lovely he wouldn't hear the details of the case as he believed the statue of limitations applied. I was allowed to put across my argument about why i disagreed and i tried to explain the act i understood it but he advised very nicely that as far as he was concerned, it was outside the 6 years even though i exlpained that between the last payment made in September 2002 and the date of my first letter to the bank being in November 2007, i believed this was within the 6 years. He advised however that as far as he was concerned, although i had made a payment in September 02, the debt itself hadn't been acknowledged by the bank and that he was also using the start of the court process rather than when i had initiated the complaint with the bank as the final date (loan taken June 01-court process started March 08). So, long story short, the bank won. The judge did say however, that he was grateful he didn’t have to adjudicate the case as he could completely understand the bitter taste that was in my mouth and although it wouldn’t directly help me, the current OFT ruling will help people in the future. Ah well, live and learn.
