I today received a letter from Egg saying that they had calculated that my PPI insurance was £546 and that the 8% interest on that was £346 (roughly).

Now - am I being petty asking for a breakdown of the calculation?

I am just confused as to how its been calculated.

PS - I have also asked for copy statements so I can claim back any over charges. Am yet to here!

Hi, Well Done!! Do you mind me asking but was this an online application and what year did you apply?

    Hi there

You ask for it, its your policy, good luck, please keep us posted, and you can of course post them up on here if you want to, for someone to check these over for you.

Some charge for copies of statements, someone mentioned £10 the other day just for these, a SAR costs £10 but this should include everything they still hold on you plus statements, transcripts of calls and so on, they have 40 days to comply.
More here of SAR template and details, post by recorded delivery.

I have claimed back ppi from mbna, they say i have a claim but they are taking an age to pay me, any time i phone them up they say they a backlog, has anyone else had this problem?
Also halifax say i have a claim, as im in arrears they say they will pay off my arrears first they pay any remaining balance to me, is there any way i can make them pay me direct, coz my argument is i may not be in arrears if i hadnt had ppi?
Also finally my wife is claiming ppi on her halifax credit card, but she cancelled her ppi in june and so they say because she cancelled it then there is no claim to be made, is this correct or are they just trying to fob her off?
make sure mbna give you a break down on how they work out the interest on the ppi dont let them fob you off with a silly offer like they are trying to do with me
  • Hi

After sending 2nd letter mid November, we received an offer from Black Horse yesterday offering us the full amount paid plus 8% interest on top.

Need to try my old credit cards now.

    Thanks for support with this.

  • hello di, any idea how long it takes once a case has been allocated to an adjudicator? are we talking days, weeks or months in general? i know it will vary considerably but in most cases, how long would it take for a case to be assessed? thanks in advance.

    Hiya hun

I understand they are always taking on new adjudicators, due to the workload of these complaints.

There is no actual timescale as such, as this can vary, one of the longest times can be just waiting for it to be passed on to an adjudicator.

So approx 2-3 months for example, could be a lot sooner, however, some have said they have only waited a few weeks by the time their cases was passed on.

Then as soon as its with the adjudicator, it all straight forward, your talking 6-8 weeks, if the other party does not agree, it can take longer, then moved on to the ombudsman, where they then take over the complaint.

So basically as from the adjudicator 6 weeks to 18 months.

Hopefully yours will not be too long.

If your in any financial hardship, do let the FOS know and request for fast tracking.;)

Good luck, please keep us posted.

    Hi,

I just helped my mother in law, claw back over £3500 from Lloyds TSB for PPI misselling a 10k loan she took out six years ago! She is absolutely over the moon. Really happy that one hours worth of time it took to type and send a letter has brought her so much joy using a template I found on MSE. I love this site!

I'm hoping for a nice xmas gift... :)

I hope this is enough encouragement for anyone thinking about doing it.

    Thanks MSE!
