Thanks will write back to Nationwide first and see if this is their final decision. Then proceed with FOS complaint. Have been looking through site and have seen some people have challenged the use of the tick boxes (I believe these are no longer in use on applications) is there a standard letter challenging these?

    Your welcome.
It seems to be the case here.
There are templates on the link below, and you should also find some info in regards of online ppi sales as well, not sure about an individual letter on this though, but with a bit of luck someone in this same situation will post up and help on on this actual matter, good luck.

Should I state in my second letter that I don't believe that I opt'd to take out the insurance?

Yes that will be fine, tell them despite what they have said on the letter you received, you still believe you were mis sold, due to the reasons you gave them, and of course add what you have just posted as well.;)
Ask if they can come to a decision by about 14 days of this letter.

What were you reclaiming: PPI on loan
    Who was the provider: HSBC
How much did you get back: £5600
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Sent one letter using template from this site
And then write your brief reclaim tale

I had a loan with HSBC that had 15 months left to run, made redundant at end of August this year found I could not claim from the PPI as I wasn't fit enough for JSA. So absolutely relieved this has come though and has paid off my loan.

Although they don't admit liability it is to HSBC's credit in the easy and professional way that they dealt with my claim.

Thank you all on here for your help

  • SUCCESS!

Downloaded + amended the template letters from this site. Sent them to Egg (with a £1 cheque to get copy documents for my loan agreement). Received the docs, sent the 2nd letter stating reasons why I should be refunded.

Letter received in the post today stating a FULL refund has been sent by BACs. Had a loan from a few years back for a new car, I remember at the time they said I needed the PPI otherwise I wouldn't get the loan - agreed as back then I needed it.

So, thank you to this site I've got a nice chunk of cash coming back. Right time of year for it to :T:T
