  • What were you reclaiming: PPI on 3 loans
Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB
How much did you get back: £not known yet
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Several letters & phone calls
And then write your brief reclaim tale

Have just had a letter from Lloyds upholding our claim for a refund of PPi on 3 loans (refinanced each other), we've received a letter today!!!! However there's no mention of amounts etc, though we were told that the basic PPI amounts we paid amounted to £4000, does anyone have any clue how to work out what we might get back roughly?

These were loans taken out in 1999, 2000 ish so we were actually gobsmacked to get the complaint upheld!!

Also it states in the letter that they are unable to give a timescale due to the complexity, has anyone had experiences with Lloyds & how long did it take?

I'm thrilled anyway just to have something in writing as I know Lloyds are not the easiest to get refunds from.

WOW, wonderful :T:T:T, your right there, they are not the easiest, but it seems they have mellowed since all the news in the media.:j

  • Reclaimed bank charges from HSBC.
    Asked for £373.00
Received £410.00- £160 credited in my account, £250 direct to NPower bill.
Five wks ago rang for list of overdraft charges and was sent last six years, no problem. Sent off template letter with evidence of financial hardship, in debt with utility bills and missed mortgage payments.
Bank wrote with income and outgoings leaflet, asking me to ring their team as the court case still in process. Sent back the form recorded delivery with copy of initial letter and expenditure form.
Two wks later received letter saying as they had not heard from me by phone, they would take it that I didnt want to go through an assessment of my circumstances! And that my refund claim would remain on hold till court case concluded.
Rang the bank this week, put through to the hardship team, who admitted had my expenditure form on the screen which he went through again with me. Without asking he took the charges back to 2001, hence £410 and I am quite happy for £250 of it to go on my electricity debt.
It was money I never thought I,d see. Huge thankyou to to Martin Lewis' website. Without your advice, I would have never questioned the banks 'No' letter. Thankyou so much.:D

As you settled the account early you would have had a rebate against the PPI interest so would not have paid the full amount.

You should get back the PPI paid to settlement (the element of the repayment that went towards the PPI and interest and add 8% statutory interest onto each repayment from the date paid to todays date) then they look at what you paid at settlement and then they look at what your loan would have looked like without the additional PPI and take one from the other. (they then add 8% statutory interest onto the amount of the difference from settlement date to todays date).

The loans not settled yet its still running

If its still running then you would not get the full amount of PPI back anyway cause you have not yet been out of pocket by that full amount if you see what I mean. You would get back what you have actually been out of pocket by with 8% statutory interest on each repayment and then they would redo the loan without the PPI and reduce your loan/repayments accordingly.

    Hope this helps.

would you get more money back if you paid the loan off early or if it went the full term
