In 2017 in used the Resolver App to check If I had PPI with Santander - they wrote back and stated that unless I could prove I had paid premiums or had paperwork they could not investigate my claims further ( I knew that I had had 4 mortgages with the Abbey National between 1990 and 2006 but had not statements or paper work to support ) , I left alone until a 3rd party company contacted me in June 2019 , They discovered that I had indeed had 4 loans with AN/Santander , 3 did not have any PPI , But one loan was associated with PPI , Santander said that I had claimed for this loan already directly or with another company , which I had not , I called Santander direct , they stated that they could see a box had been ticked but had no proof that I paid premiums , but they also could not prove that I had not paid premiums either , they intimated that the box could have been ticked and I might have cancelled later - they said the onus was on me to find paper or statements to prove this - but we all know banks destroy statements after 10 years . has anybody had a similar experience ? any thoughts on whether I can take this further ?
It is correct that if there is no evidence of payment that the bank has to use any information that you have retained. However, if neither you or the bank has any information then its usually game over.
Some types of PPI are deducted on a regular basis and can be cancelled at any time, even at start before a payment is made.0 -
Thanks - can i put in a SAR request ?
To look at all documents they hold relating to
this account ?0 -
Hi, recently i won a ppi claim, but didn't relies i was entitled to a claim so i did not fill in the online the "Click and Complete" online form from this claim company, they text saying " your bank has confirmed a ppi claim . to beat the deadline we have submitted your claim. to help win , please click and complete on the link"
But i never did. the next thing i get is the awarded money put in my bank by my bank who
the ppi was with, bit of a surprise i must admit,
Now the claims company want there commission which is fine but .. technically if i have not "Clicked and Completed " the online link can the claim company legally demand they commission ??0 -

Send a complaint to the CMC saying that you never entered into a contract with them and didnt sign a letter of authority. So, as they have no contract with you, they have no right to ask for payment.
BTW, its not commission. It is a fee. Commission is something that is paid by a third party to the seller. If you pay this, you are paying it out of your funds.0 -
Can anyone advise please. Though I am sure we had PPI policies thrust upon us in the past - I remember one day suddenly realising it was of no benefit as we were self employed
I rang our mortgage co and told them policy no good for us and they said they would stop it.
Roll on to the urgent ads on tv recently about policies you may have had and so I sent a direct enquiry to Santander which is apparently handling accounts that belonged to our mortgage co.
Today received a confusing letter with a little table apparently showing three accounts with two No's and one Yes opposite same. I assume this means we had PPI attached to the one with YES opposite.
No further info is giving about this policy at all. So how do I further this please. A sentence below says we hold limited information about Paymentcare.
Help, dont know what I suppose to do from this info.
Thank you x0 -

Most MPPI policies did cover the self employed.
In any case, since you cancelled this policy some time ago believing it to be 'no good', there would be a time bar operating from that date, which might prevent any mis-selling complaint, which you can't now make anyways cos the deadline has passed.0 -

Have you already raised your complaint with Santander?
Have you got a better complaint reason than being self employed as Paymentcare probably did cover the self employed0 -
Had my PPI offer through.
Halifax had 4 loans listed, but the guy I spoke to said only 3 of them had PPI on them. Of the 3 with PPI they have defended 2 of them and 1 was upheld, and I am receiving just over £1000 back within 28 days.
The reasons I gave for the mis-selling were the same for all 3 when I went through the questions with the guy on the phone, so I wonder why 2 would be rejected and 1 upheld?
My wife has just sent a photo of the offer through, so I'll have a read through the letter when I get home to see their reasons offered.0 -
Thanks for the replies.
I claimed within time and I was sent sparse details by Santander. They state I had PPI on one policy out of three they had found but dont say what for or when.
Basically I wanted to know how you go about getting further details and where I go from here.
Re the policy I mentioned and I doubt its the one santander came up with as its so long ago -but - I can distinctly remember that it stated that only employees were covered not self employed. But by the by as I think they wouldnt have even picked up on that one nearly 30 years ago
Sounds like only route is to try to speak to them direct Thanks for your input.0
