If you have proof of posting (free from the Post Office) your original letter the Ombudsman will accept that it was received at most two days later.
You have complicated things, though, by sending a duplicate complaint two weeks later.
So you should put your case to the Bank, but do note that even if they do agree to consider your complaint there is still no guarantee it will be upheld.0 -
I made the complaint online directly through the Barclays website but had trouble with sending it , eventually it told me it was submitted and allowed me to download a pdf copy of my form but this was corrupted when opened. The 2nd one i submitted on the 5/8 in the same way then the pdf shows just a blank form so either doesn't actually show my complaint but they obviously had received it as i got the acknowledgement letter stating as above but the fact they are apologising for the delay cant possibly relate to the 05/08 complaint? So do you suggest i reply to the bank directly or to the ombudsman??
Thanks for your advice0 -

Sounds like the timebar will stand.
One of the problems with leaving it until the last minute to complain and using an online portal to do so. Sorry.0 -
Does that not work both ways then?? They have no proof i received their letter?? The pdf of the form only allows you to download it once the website tells you your submission was successful and the wording of their letter implies that they received an earlier complaint?? Its probably worth trying isn't it?
Sorry just saw your updated post, so basically if the timebar stands im 4 days out of time??0 -

You can certainly try to convince them otherwise..0 -
Well i guess its worth trying, would i be best appealing directly to the bank or to the ombudsman then??0

Wife is getting roughly £3500 in total back off Lloyds.... £860 (ish) already paid, and she's received an offer of approx £2700 last week for another product, which she's accepting and will be paid within 28 days.
I am waiting on a decision from Halifax on PPI I had on 3 separate secured loans back in the late 90's/early 2000s.0 -
In 2017 in used the Resolver App to check If I had PPI with Santander - they wrote back and stated that unless I could prove I had paid premiums or had paperwork they could not investigate my claims further ( I knew that I had had 4 mortgages with the Abbey National between 1990 and 2006 but had not statements or paper work to support ) , I left alone until a 3rd party company contacted me in June 2019 , They discovered that I had indeed had 4 loans with AN/Santander , 3 did not have any PPI , But one loan was associated with PPI , Santander said that I had claimed for this loan already directly or with another company , which I had not , I called Santander direct , they stated that they could see a box had been ticked but had no proof that I paid premiums , but they also could not prove that I had not paid premiums either , they intimated that the box could have been ticked and I might have cancelled later - they said the onus was on me to find paper or statements to prove this - but we all know banks destroy statements after 10 years . has anybody had a similar experience ? any thoughts on whether I can take this further ?0
