Had an Egg card back in 2003. Made a PPI claim in 2012 which was rejected by Barclaycard. They stated that I had knowingly ticked the box on the website. Went to the Ombudsman but got discouraged and ran out of time to complete. I tried Plevin about 6 months ago via Resolver but it was ignored. By now I'm retired and have time to spare so I wrote to Canada Square operations who replied saying that it was not their remit to deal with it but would send it on to Barlaycard. Hey! Ho! here we go, I thought. This will probably go nowhere. Then Lo and Behold! 2 weeks later a reply from Barclaycard stating that the owed me compensation under the Plevin rules. I actually got more in interest than the original award. Total amount £550. Now the minus points: they deducted £61 tax on the interest payment but more importantly they didn't enclose my payment cheque. Has this happened to anyone else? I am happy to have got something in the end.:):)

You can apply for tax back if you are under the income tax threshold. Ring them up and ask about the cheque

A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I moved in 2007, but Barclays claim to have written to me in January and again in March 2014. I definitely didn’t receive any letters

Unfortunately (for you) FOS accept proof of posting as also proof of delivery. So your denial of receipt means nothing.
You'll have to be content with your Plevin refund I'm afraid.

Did Barclays know you had moved? If they had your current address and have evidence the letters were sent, the time bar is valid. You can see why you can't just claim to have not received letters to get around time bars as there would be no end to these cases

Thanks to MSE and site to get enough courage to do this.

In April I just completed the Lloyds TSB online form.
I received the 14 page document they sent me.
I ignored the letter for more detail.
They texted me 2 weeks later stating it was progressing.
Two weeks later I had £4600 in one of my accounts without any explanation of what it was for.
Waited over a month before calling them.
Only to be told it was for two £5k loans in 1991 & 1996 , and that I should have had a letter as well.
Still have not received letter yet.

Just Done my 24k Halifax mortgage this dinnertime lets wait and see what happens also circa 1991.

Seeing one of Martin's Money shows last January spurred me into sending off applications for PPI misselling for all the loans and credit cards I had details for. Was thrilled to get the following upheld:

Santander (Abbey National loan of £10000 from 2001): £5657
    Lloyds TSB (credit card): £812
    RBS (Advanta/Mint credit card): £1308
    MBNA (credit card): £2084
    Total: £9861

About half of this was interest as they were all accounts from the early 2000s.

Since then I've been remembering about other cards and loans I had so have sent off for those too. I had one through yesterday for a Lloyds TSB loan from 1997 - another £770. One application is already with the FOS (Egg who sent me a standard rejection letter within a week of me sending the application) and 2 more, with Santander (Cahoot Flexible Loan) and Tesco (credit card), outstanding.

My misselling reason was the same for all - that I was put under pressure to take out the PPI (or in the case of the first loan, that the box was pre-ticked on the online application) and that as my employer provided the same cover, the policies were useless to me. I was perhaps a little naive at the time and didn't ask any questions/do any research, and I cottoned on to it being useless to me in around 2004 so I haven't had any PPI since then. I was in severe debt before then though and my state of mind was such that I was easily persuaded that the sky would fall down if I didn't take it out.

The windfall last year meant I could pay off the last of my debts and then have a long wished for holiday to Australia in January this year :)

Hi, I sent letter with regards to loans taken out with HSBC, as it was from 1998 to 2002/3, got the letter they haven't got paperwork! Sent them bank statements showing loan protection and there were 2 pages of managed loans. Got a letter today, statements insufficient to evidence PPI. They can confirm that a particular ref no, is for a managed loan acct, doesn't benefit from PPI. Really dont understand as they are asking to proceed further, providing the protection held and accompanying statements confirming pymts made! Thought the bank statements showing loan protection was sufficient!

You have to show that you actually paid this PPI, just because it is on your bank statements, does not mean that you actually paid this, you could have cancelled the PPI or you could have made a claim on the PPI.
They need to see that the PPI was actually paid and for how long.
