PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

What were you reclaiming: Credit card PPI
Who was the provider: MBNA
How much did you get back: £10,200
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: One phone call to MBNA
This is my partner's success. I had been nagging him to check his PPI situation so in early february, he started with cards/loans that are still live, and phoned three providers.
He simply had no idea whether PPI existed on any of the products, and could not recollect how he applied, which is exactly what he said to them. All undertook to look into his accounts and contact him within 40 days.
MBNA wrote last week to say they would have an answer by 19th April. In fact a letter arrived this morning to say they found in his favour, breaking down the figures and awarding a full and final settlement of 10.2K, which includes tax deducted where relevant.
As it's been such a swift and painless process, we're guessing it may well be an auto payout - but whatever the case, he's delighted.0 -
Lloyd's Bank personal loan. PPI reclaim.
Loan taken out over 84 months, 10 months left to run.
Claimed in December 2012. Told 8 week decision but took 14 weeks.
Claim upheld. £5,450 refund :j0 -
Hi
I discovered two old insurance documents the first (2003 - 2009) is a family protector (allied dunbar) and covers illness, job loss etc and the paperwork states paying out ppi £502 per month for a year. the second is with legal and general (1997) and is a flexible plan covering the same as above. Can i still complain about these as i believe they were mis sold, or are they too old.
Thanks

How many times are you going to ask the same questions to be given the same answer?
I count 4 times now. And you were told this in October last year.
You cannot complain about a product which was sold correctly that you needed.
Stop asking the same question. In case you don't remember...

I submitted the paperwork to reclaim PPI from MBNA credit card in Jan 12. Initially they rejected my claim and said i had no right to claim. This was as expected from the MSE threads. I then forward all the documents to the Financial ombusdman and they upheld my claim. In Jan 13 i recieved a letter (full year later), that stated MBNA had been instructed to refund me.
A cheque for just over £1000 arrived at the start of March 13. Moral of the story is, be patient and follow the guidance on this site. The bank will normally always reject your intitial claim.0 -

I advise you seek secondary advise from 'consumeractiongroup' as moneysavingexpert seems over run with ppi trolls who are paid representatives and have conflicting interests to the financial industry. You want a consumer forum who typically do not flame, belittle and make forum users feel unwelcome.chopper_lee wrote: »I submitted the paperwork to reclaim PPI from MBNA credit card in Jan 12. Congratulations on your successful claim, and take this as an opportunity to find alternative financial providers0 -
I submitted a complaint to MBNA in regards to mis-sold PPI on 3 loans in January 2012, having read the feedback on this forum was expecting them to refuse point blank and to then have to involve the FOS.
Imagine my surprise then when a letter turned up today saying that MBNA were upholding all of my complaints and that £6,500 would be repaid to me in 28 days! :money:In addition to a successful claim against Barclays, post tax this means repayments of over £10k, all for the price of a stamp (well Recorded Delivery) and an SAR request, total of c. £25!!!
That's the end of my complaining (about PPI anyway!), so thank you to everyone who's posted which gave me the encouragement to complain, and for all the fanstastic advice on this website, absolutely invaluable.
I said it previously but will say it again, if you've been mis-sold PPI and you're thinking of making a claim then please, please, please do it yourself and don't involve a Claims Management company. Apart from the £25 above I spent 1 solid day reviewing this website, gathering evidence and preparing my complaint forms and I'm £10k better off for it, I'm not having to share it with a company that would do relatively little and demand a percentage of the gross settlement figure while still expecting you to pay the full tax liability on any interest payments.
Good luck to all of you in your complaints and thanks again to everyone at MSE, an absolutely brilliant website.0 -

Yes you can! I have just received notification from Santander that PPI including statutory interest totalling £1,583.16 on an old Alliance and Leicester loan I had between 2007 and 2009 is to be refunded to me.
Like you, I had no paperwork or account numbers to go with but was aware that the loan had had PPI on it. I printed my credit report using the free service provided by Noddle. This will help you identify key account details such as the last four digits of the account number, the dates between which the account was active, which lender the account was with and your address at the time of taking the loan. This together with your date of birth is sufficient for the lender to track the account and do the necessary for you.
All I did was use the MSE template letter and enclose a copy of the FOS questionnaire (completed as much as possible), together with a copy of the credit report extract. Happy days!0
