"I write in regards the above referenced Barclaycard and would like you to re-investigate my complaint please in relatuion to the points below..
When I applied for this card over the internet in 1997, I would have had to install Netscape software to continue with the application. My computer skills at the time were not that advanced, and if I had got that far, I am unsure whether the application form would have had part-populated boxes.
Please find attached a copy of the screen, showing that software was required to continue a Credit Card Application with Barclaycard backin 1997.

I would be grateful for your attention in this matter.

    Regards etc"

Hmmm...but don't hold your breath...and be prepared either to drop it, or to forward it to the Ombudsman.
    And correct my typos :D

They usually acknowledge the complaint within 2 weeks, they have a further 6 weeks to give you a final decision, at this point they may ask for more time or you may have a decision.

    Amersall/Taff,

Bit of advice if you don't mind?

Got a complaint in with Halifax at the min (will be 5 weeks this week).

Got a loan with them in 1999 which ran 6 months as I borrowed a further £1k so they paid the old agreement off and started a new one. This loan lasted half the term (30 months) before I paid it off completely.

My compliant was the fact that it wasn't optional - I was only quoted one monthly repayment which included the PPI. And, the fact it was Single Premium, a loan on top of a loan plus interest and this wasn't fully explained to me when I got loan out.

I got a call from them last week asking me a few questions and I just told him the above reasons and he said they will be in touch in a few weeks.

If I am successful, how would they work out the payments? The first one only ran 6 months and the second 30 months. Would they have given me a rebate with the settlement figures on both?

    Any info appreciated.

Yes, they would have rebated howver many months weren't paid of PPI, but they wouldn't have rebated the interest attached to it.

So you could roughly work out the rebate for each loan by taking the original PPI figure [not the interest as well, only the PPI], divide by however many months the loan ran for, times that figure by however many months were left to go before you paid it off and take that off the total.

I put in a claim with RBS and after 7 days received a letter saying that they could not find any records that I ever had PPI...despite their staff initially advising that I had 2...

Is there anything I can do to check that they are correct and there is not a PPI on this account.

The account is an old one - I closed it in 2011 and if it did have PPI I would of definately stopped the ppi in 2008 (as I did on the other card).

Is this the end of the road for this card?

You can send a SAR letter which costs £10 to see what evidence the bank still hold on file for you.
