Hi How Long did you have to wait for your cheque? Congratulations
    Lian :j

I've waited a LONG time! :D It went to the Ombudsman just over a year ago. I received their ruling at the beginning of March and accepted the "okay we'll pay but it's not our fault" offer from Worst Plus. Ombudsman gave them 4 weeks to pay and it took them 3 weeks and 1 day.

In regards of goodwill offers from either directly the company your complaining of or through the FOS, where no figures are provided try to ask if they can supply the figure and the breakdown in order to make a decision.

I note recently there have been offers of goodwill where figures have not been provided and of course if you have nothing or any paperwork to work on this can make it even more difficult.
Write to the company or even ring them just for a figure, obviously if your not satisfied you can take matters further, especially if you feel a lot more money was involved.

In general the usual response from the FOS is that they aim to put you back in the position as if you did not take out PPI, plus interest etc, but when the companies work this out they must have something to work on.
I am aware that SAR's may supply so much information, but again this will depend on how long ago you had taken the finance out, if over 6 years in England and Wales, 5 Years in Scotland and so you may not be lucky to receive any paperwork going back any further.
But "what did they use, to work this on then"?
They must have something, so ask for them for this and a figure of what is offered if not known.

Anyone dealing directly with a company who have given an offer, if your not happy, you have the opportunity to take this to the FOS.

Here is something in the media here
    http://www.knowyourmoney.co.uk/financial-news/miscellaneous-news-19046738/

You should find more info on this matter by googling "low PPI goodwill offers", or something alike.

    Good luck;)

  • I took out a loan with Alliance & Leicester in 2005 for 5 years to pay a car. I used Martin's template letter and received back £3260. Plus my payment have been lowered by £79 per month. I also previously had a loan with them which I repaid in 2005. I again used template letter and received £2600.

    Hi everyone
I have won the PPI battle with HFC they have agreed to pay out!
However I did have to go as far as FO but we got there in the end
I received a letter from the FO explaining how HFC will be working out my payment and how long it will take HFC to send payment.
I was just wondering if anyone else has put in a claim with the FO against HFC and if sucessful how long they take to pay?
The FO said if by 8 weeks I have not had any payment, to contact them
well its the 7th week and I just dont think HFC are going to stick to there agreement!!
I have had so much trouble with them in the passed I just have no faith in them!! Unfortunately at this present moment I could really do with the money

So if anyone has had dealings with HFC this way I would be greatful of your comments
    Thanks

Hi there, Well done and Congratulations!
    :T

I would let the FOS know your current situation that your struggling and need the money for as soon as possible, when my cases were with them they told me to let them know if this was the case. (not the same company though).
    It may help, fingers crossed.;)

I'm sure others will post up who have had dealings with this company soon, I expect it is taking HFC longer due to the amount of complaints they are dealing with, also refunds, with a bit of luck you will hear real soon.

    Thanks Di
I have already called the FO over a week ago and explained my current situation and my concerns over HFC and they said that I really need to hold out and if we get to the 8 weeks (8th April) I should contact them.
I shall wait and see what other people put!
    Thanks again Di

What were you reclaiming: PPI on loan

Who was the provider: Lloyds TSB

How much did you get back: Over £3,500.00

Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Put claim form into the FSA

And then write your brief reclaim tale
Sent the 2 template letters from this site amended to suit my reasons for claiming. Both replies from Lloyds rejected claim. I then dithered for quite a while but got the FSA claim form sent before the deadline. That was September. Have just had settlement paid into my bank account including £200 compensation! I,m so glad that I found this site, as Martin says all they can say is no and all you lose is the price of a couple of stamps. Thank you very much Martin, if I can do it anyone can.:j :A
